Server locked 12 hours a day

I played on FI 1 today and found out that the server is kept locked for 15 minutes every 30 minutes, so it's opened/locked every 15 minutes. The admin (Soppa) said the reason for this is to make DC'ers life harder.

I guess it works for that aswell, but it's also also an annoyance for people trying to get in for other reason.

As far as I know this is not allowed but I'd like to raise discussion on the topic and get the official word about it. The rules concerning server locks should be clear for both the players and the admins, and currently that isn't the case.

Almost every single person in FI1 was using disconnect to avoid death. This is game breaking thing and counted as exploit.

What we are testing is auto locking & unlocking feature which has decrested disconnects a lot as they could have 15min penalty by doing it.

So basically admins are NOT locking server to prevent people to get in. Its done automatically by script and locking time is max 15minutes. So every single player will get in if they want.

I understand that exploiters wont like this feature at all :)

oh wow - that sounds pretty awesome, i'm definitely a supporter

my only suggestion is that you reduce it to 5 minutes. 5 minutes, in my opinion, is just as much of a deterrent as 15 minutes to the guy with disconnect reflexes... and you help curb the unnecessary punishment on lag and disconnects due to the alpha state of the mod

either way, very awesome that the admin of the server hopped on the forums to explain this neat feature
