Steam OA and Retail A2

I have Steam Arrowhead and retail Arma2. I've read that when you launch Combined Operations in Six Updater it automatially searches for both .exe files. However, when I launch the game I get this error:

and I get kicked from the server before I can join. What's going on?

Are you running the game trough steam or do you use six launcher to launch it?

This is what I've done so far.

Reinstalled the game.

Installed Six Updater, on 'profile' I selected "A2 OA Combined Ops (forced), made a new preset and installed DayZ mod.

Joining a server through Six Updater, got the error, added Six Updater to Steam library, still got the error and kicked from server.

You'll likely need to move some of the data around into different folders, seems most likely given the error you're getting. I'm at work atm so I can't check what the folders are called atm, likely someone will be able to help you before I get home, but if not I'll check when I get home.

Ah, I just realized, would it be because my retail Arma 2(which I never use) isn't updated? If so, what patch do I need? There's a list here:

Do I get the Arma 2 1.11 patch or the combined operations?

I installed ArmA 2 retail and patched it up. Added DayZ files. Installed beta patch.

Six Updater did everything else for Arrowhead.

When I try and join a server it no longer gives me an error but it stops at 'wait for host' indefinitely. Did I miss a step in the installation? Before I was using ArmA 2 free because my Arrowhead was on Steam. Do I have to connect the retail and Steam or does Six Updater do that>?
