Different maps ...urban city

Don't know how much of a futuristic dream that is, but last time i thought how awesome it would be, if the whole setting was put into another enviroment.

The most different and probably interesting place, would be a city. Skycrapers, streets with streetsigns, barely any nature.

Sure, it would be easier to navigate, but thanks to skyscrapers the whole movement would shift into narrow places and vertical areas instead of widespread woods and similar.

Since it would have way more going on heightwise, it wouldn't need to be as big as the original island itself.

We already have cities, I actually like the current map and I dont think it should be changed at all. Maybe a bigger city than elektro and cherno should be added in the middle of the map which makes it even more fun of heading inwards.

I'm talking about only a city.

The cities that are on this map are not really big cities and the whole skyscraper with several levels are also not in there. I mean to focus the gameplay on the inside of buildings, since currently a lot of the buildings only have few rooms or are not enterable at all.

Also this should by no means REPLACE the current map, just some servers that run other ones.

The goal is to make the gameplay different just by putting the people in another kind of enviroment...new rules, new dangers, new focus.

Also since probably most of us can relate more to big cities than the countryside of an island like the one we currently have, would surely be interesting, since it touches more to home, so to speak.

Creating new maps for arma is a pretty huge ordeal from what I've seen. Most mods just use the existing campaign maps for this reason. Another technical issue I've noticed is that zombies don't recognise height. I.e. something above or below them is acknowledged as being on the same level as they are. They might use a spherical detection method I'm not sure.. but it would make lots of vertical space difficult to play in.

I wonder if it actually is doable with the current mod. I like the idea sort off though.

I can only talk out of my ass here, since i have absolutely no clue about modding or mapmaking in arma.

I stick to the creative thinking and leave the technical stuff to others :)

No this is what I completely have in mind for the future of the mod. Zombie city, zombue town, zombie village, zombie countryside, zombie wilderness...all connected

I would prefer a bigger and more centric city, but what you're suggesting is nigh on impossible to do at the moment.

You could take a smaller map like Utes, and add a tonne of roads and buildings on it, make it into a large city. Might be fun for servers that can't handle as many players. Obviously a different map would require different characters, so it'd be an opportunity to have a different central server, maybe take some of the pressure off the one that's already there.
