Jorgenheim 11 Posted July 13, 2012 *Which version of the game did you purchase? STEAM or RETAIL or MIXED:Steam*Are you running an Arma 2 OA beta patch? If so what version?:Yes, the latest one.*Which method are you using to launch the game? I.E Sixupdater/steam/batch file:SteamHere are the launch options I'm using,-beta=Expansion\beta;ca;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ;ca -nosplash -maxmem=2047 -exThreads=7 -nopause -world=Chernarus -winxp*What is the Error/Problem you're having? Please provide screenshots if possible:Lower frames in towns/cities. Its not COMPLETELY terrible in towns, but it definitely shouldn't be dropping like it is. Goes down to like 20 fps in towns, and 10-15 fps in cities. My computer can handle other games that require more than this on all max settings with better fps than I'm getting with Dayz.*Your PC specs:Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6700Ram: 6144 MB (6GB)Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor (4 cpus) ~ 2.6GHz*Your Operating System:Windows 7*Have you looked at these threads?:http://dayzmod.com/f...d.php?tid=18588Yes, and I've looked at the other threads about FPS issues, I just want someone to tell me how they think I can optimize the game with my computer.

Jorgenheim 11 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) My problemHave a look over this thread I found earlier on today.Has some good suggestions in it that has helped me get my gaming running pretty nice.http://www.10-78.com...ead.php?t=27601My problem isn't with Arma, its with Dayz. I pretty much get a constant 50+ fps in Arma 2, but in Dayz my frames can get terrible.Edit: Also I've done pretty much all of those things listed there. Jorgenheim 11 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Bumping because I severely want help. Here are the things I've done,1. set launch options2. set the in-game options to what everyone says to set them to for the best performance3. Changed config options outside of game (the ArmaA2OA cfg file and the Arma2 profile file)4. Updated video card drivers5. Cleaned computer6. Ran game booster while playing7. Found a good server in game (any server with a little bit higher ping will make my fps drop down ridiculously. I'll get 10-25 fps just in the forest. I'm pretty sure this is just a server issue though as people have said)I know this shouldn't be happening. My friends with worse rigs than mine get a higher, constant fps than I do. It isn't my connection either (http://www.speedtest.../2061915497.png). What the hell do I have to do? Edited July 13, 2012 by Jorgenheim

adharma 20 Posted July 14, 2012 I've got the same problems as you and also tried many of the same things as you... This is quite annoying.
kekelpekel 2 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Same problems here, I have AMD x4 2,9 / 4g ram / hd6850.Arma 2 OA is running perfectly, while most time in DAYZ I encouter huge FPS drops.Hope this get solved, because this is quite unplayable for me.Offcourse I tried all tweaks, running with parameters. WIN7/64b fresh install. Edited July 15, 2012 by kekelpekel
randy.james24@gmail.com 1 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) http://www.rockpaper...-on-performanceGood resource for the settings.Start Button/Documents/Arma 2 (for the following config files)-Terrain Detail and Object detail can really kill fps, I have a 6950 2gb and putting those 2 settings on anything above normal drops my fps by 10+ and causes my mouse/camera to be jittery.-Also, especially if you use Anti Aliasing, AtoC in the arma 2 config will kill your fps. Setting it to 0 in the config will counter this (smoothing on trees, foliage, grass) One thing to kind of help is turning ppaa to 3 in the config.-Under your username config for arma 2 is also mouse smoothing...setting this to 1 helps for some reason. Also a problem I've had recently with fps is with vysnc enabled, turning it off stopped some fps drops. The special launch options (-maxmem=2047 -exThreads=7 -nopause -world=Chernarus -winxp) in my experience are not needed anymore.Best advice is try changing the things I specifically listed as well as using the guide I linked to find a good balance, every computer is different so you'll really have to just try some things on your own. But these are a few good baselines. Before doing anything listed, I would get about 30-40 fps in the wilderness and towns, Now I range from high 40s in towns to 70+ in wilderness, while still looking nice. On the website it talks about FXAA, I tried this on max settings and so no increase in visual quality, same goes with Anti Aliasing which I have disabled, I do however have Anistropic Filtering set to high. Input your launch options you want.If using retail/ shortcut on your desktop, right click/properties.. add a space after the text in the "Target" box and add the launch options you want. Irenicus (DayZ) 289 Posted July 30, 2012 Its not you or your rig nor your graphics card it's simply DayZ. It runs like absolute shit right now. I get 9 to 17fps. Compared with 25-45 prior to 1.7.2.
galhast 6 Posted July 30, 2012 Then how do people respond so quickly in game? Seems that 9/10 times whenever I see a player they kill me in 1-2 frames for me... long before I can wrestle with the game to point my gun at them from thisSome people obviously aren't experiencing this, and some are
ninja! 6 Posted July 30, 2012 im having the same problem AGAIN!. at first i fixed the problem by following some guide in this forum but after the update now i can no longer get more than 40 frames. i am always at 15-20 frames...

Irenicus (DayZ) 289 Posted August 1, 2012 Bumping again cause I still get pretty much the same frames in cities. Done everything said in this thread (well besides buying a new graphics card..)Mate it's the same for us all. Even those with monster rigs are getting terrible FPS in cities. Not much you can do, tweaking will help up to a certain point, but most of the performance issues seem to be related to server load and I imagine Hive load. Wouldn't surprise me if it's all down to the hive...the more zombies and players, the worse FPS is and gets even worse with time. That's why server restarts seem to help, but only for a while

But PCs have always experienced this sort of thing. No amount of tweaking will help (well ok it helps in general but doesn't fix whatever is causing this.) Lets hope this is sorted when standalone comes out.
