Strange player behaviour

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is meant to be posted here, if not please let me know, and ill move it... or I ask kindly that the mods move it to the correct place.

Anyway...

On my many adventures across the vast land, I've been to almost every place accessible by foot.

I recently died, and it struck me that I have never been to any of the islands in the sea.

So I decided to take a swim and explore one of the biggest islands, I went to the dock place and I went to the Lighthouse, gathered a few scrap items while I was there.

I then saw what looked like to be a radio tower, so I made my way in that direction.

Then suddenly, like a child in a sweetie store, I got all excited and almost wet myself at the sight of around 10 Tents...

I approached with caution, and proceeded to loot what was in it, there was all sorts, I think almost every item in-game. minus vehicle parts.

After about 2-3 minutes of looting, a random player just appeared before me right in the middle of all these tents, must of been a coincidence right?

These tents must be a little camp made by a band of survivors that have gathered and stored here for safe keeping.

I quickly made a run for it, I thought after looting all the valuable items, that killing the survivor was a bit too much, so I let him be. (I'm not a custom of shooting someone with their own gun (as funny as that may be to some people)).

I ran into the hills, and camped for a while, watching and waiting to see what happened.

The Survivor shortly vanished, and 10-15 minutes passed, I went back again, this time armed just in-case.

I looked through some more Tents, and then again another Survivor appeared... I really didn't want to have to face running all the way back to this place if he killed me, so I shot and killed the player, and ran away again.

another 10-15 minutes went by, and I decided to go back... and again another Survivor logged in within a few minutes of me being there.

Now, there were some questionable items within these tents, and I avoided taking them, and the fact that everytime I went down to the tents someone just so happened to log in seems a bit suspect to me.

I repeated this for about 2 hours, because to me something didn't seem right.

Does anyone suspect that foul play is happening, maybe hackers? Or is it a simple case of me being very unlucky with timing their logins?

I'm going to continue to log in over the next 12 hours, and see what more I can learn.

Would love to know your thoughts on the situation.

As much as I would love to share these spoils with the community... if its legit, I'd like to keep it to my knowledge only.

However, If a DayZ Admin wants to talk to me about it, if indeed the info I have provided sounds suspicious I would be happy to divulge.

Some items were very suspect, so I'd rather not give the server info to anyone with the potential of getting any innocent surivor in trouble with the powers that be.

Other than those actually committing the unspeakable actions. If indeed they are.

But yes Sgt Abraham Ford, definitely worth a shot... haha

I would take note of the items and reference them with a dayz items list to see if they are legit.

If you have any way of identifying the name of the player, this will depend what server you will on. This will allow you to get an idea what each individual player is doing, if you kill a player and he spawns back into that island...simply...they are teleporting after death.

This may actually be there way of getting on and off the island...unless they have a boat or the whole "swimming makes your stuff drop" bug is fixed and they are swimming back and forth...but i doubt that.

If there is no boat, i would suggest teleporting, OR PERHAPS they are boating in on another server, logging off and then logging back in to there home server.

This is good advice. Might be common items, OP hasn't said.

really? why would this even be allowed as an option and how can you tell before hand? lol

seeing a group of tents with alot of gear is nothing special, what is special is that 1 of their guys got killed and your still alive

now if within those tents there was like 100 NVG's and weapons which are not in dayz, then yes it is hackers. as it stands its more likely you found a clan/groups base of ops and if the gear in the tents all matches items in dayz then take the best and get the hell out before you waste the chance

I don't for a moment want to believe they are hacking, and as I wrote my OP I realised, I've never actually seen any Hacking going on, or any player hacking at all.

I'm not one for making quick judgements and I hope everyone can see this in my OP.

I came here looking for advice, and to see what the general consensus was about my post.

I will absolutely take on board what everyone has said, and take it upon me to note down certain details to see if there is anything further suspect going on.

I don't want to get anyone into trouble simply because I stumbled upon a camp of tents, and they so happen to log into the game, everytime I get close.

I guess I will need to do some more research.

I'm still open to more discussion.

I have no idea about the item drop in the water.

All I know is that when I swam over, my original goal was to simply explore, I wasn't bothered about my starter items being sunk to the bottom of the sea.

But when I managed to reach the island, my items were all still in my inventory.
