Any chance for NPC factions?

It would be awesome if there were several factions. Each with his base and roaming/patrol. They could hate each other too and loot each other for their supplies.

Players could also take side and gain/lose faction depending who they kill. Factions would have different strength depending on the server and it would be a quite realistic way to get real weapons/vehicles but with a high risk of getting killed.

The factions could have their own base and agenda and enlist players to their cause, hunt them down (bounties) or even try to clear specific town of zombies and set new base.

Sounds way too similiar to Fallout Online. Besides that I don't see anything like this working in a zombie apocalypse environment.

Oh man. ARMA's AI is made for realistic combat. Adding NPC factions would be hilarious, if they were hostile to you. You would be killed from kilometers away, routinely.

Why not make safe zones around the map? Where players can safely go and trade items or group up without having to worry about bandits. Have some AI's around as guards that shoot bandits on sight or something.

Safe-zone with AI guards is an interesting idea.

Arma has some badass AI.
