SleepyFrog1119 0 Posted July 13, 2012 Hello,I'm posting here because I have a friend who is having a lot of trouble getting on to dayz. He has downloaded the steam game and I believe he has run arma 2 as admin before d/l and installing the mod. He then got the six launcher and when he goes to join a game he gets the "Missing Strings" error. He has spent meaning hours reading the forums and trying to find a solution but to no luck. I know he has tried to- re-insteall battleye- re-install the game- look for firmware updates for his modemI'm not sure what else he has done. He is fairly sure it's his modem that is causing the problems. It is a model smcd3gnv. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.
kruxed70@gmail.com 8 Posted July 13, 2012 while its nice, its pointless you posting for him as it means people cant get the infi needed to help. there is no mention of his pc specs or if he gets errors trying to play the base game as well. i doubt anyone will try and help until he posts here with his pc specs and can reply to posts.missing strings doesnt sound anything like a modem related issue
venom110 10 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I had several issues with Battleye while trying to install the mod and get it running.I would join the server and then get stuck in a never-ending load screen. OR I would just get kicked from the server.I fixed my issue by:1. Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead (this is with Windows 7)2. check the expansions folder and see if there is a folder called 'BattlEye'3. If it isn't there, go back to the main OA folder and open the 'BEsetup' folder4. Run the 'Setup_BattlEyeARMA2OA' programThis will manually install BE for OA, which steam had a hard time doing on its own. Then, before you join a server, turn off any anti virus temporarily.I know when my BattlEye tried to update, it failed because my Avast stopped the download.Good luck! Any problems and I'll be glad to try and help.-Edit- As above said, very little detail is given. I'm just trying to help with the problem I had for three hours. Not sure if it's the same, but glad to try and help. Edited July 13, 2012 by venom110

I am able to speak on his behalf.. and asking what his specs are instead of criticizing me would be an easier way to go, right? He recently bought a new computer. He told me that it was happening on his old machince too.. as in the exact same problem. Which is why he thinks it's his router. But from what i remember it is a high end machine and I know he updated all his drivers. So I am assuming it's not the PC itself that is causing the issue. Cochese 8 Posted July 13, 2012 Where was anyone criticizing you? It's not a matter of the machine being good enough to run the game, we can only give a solution if we know what the system is, and it would be easier for your friend to get an account, post the specs and describe the problem. If it's such a problem to get an account here, then perhaps you could let your friend use yours for a moment.

SleepyFrog1119 0 Posted July 13, 2012 Back to my point. He has had this problem on 2 completely different rigs. His new pc is running windows 7 with an Intel 2500k and a nvidia 570. The reason I am posting for him is because he has given up out of frustration and I'm trying to brain storm for ideas he has not tried. I apologize if I come off as douchy but I am looking for suggestions.. and like I had said before I do not think it is a problem with his rig since he had this problem on his old computer. I would think it is a program conflict and am wondering what people have done to fix the "missing strings" error.
venom110 10 Posted July 13, 2012 Also, did he make sure he ran Arma 2, then quit.. then Arma 2 CO (not OA), then quit? That is a key part of the install proccess, even with the Six Updater/Launcher install.
SleepyFrog1119 0 Posted July 14, 2012 So we tried re-installing and making sure he loaded Arma2 and the arma2 OA before installing six launcher. Now he is just stuck at loading for a long time and then gets sent to the menu screen. We went into the steam folder and loaded BESetup and ran the game. It then proceded to go into the game but would say "BattlEye: Could not connect to BE master" "BattlEye: Connection failed" After that we went to the battleye website and downloaded off their website.. but after installing and loading the game we got the same BE master server problem.Oh, and we made sure that both his windows firewall and AVG were not on while doing this to make sure they were not stopping anything from happeneing.
