Admin Abuse, Banned for NO REASON!

Wow just typed a huge story just to have my page go backwards. FML

basically I was banned for no legitimate reason. I did not hack, spam, or even murder anyone!!!!! Just because these people don't trust me anymore, they banned me after a failed attempt to kill me.

The server is under the filter US338 and the admin who banned me goes by Mr. Thames.

Frankly we were good friends and this is all BS.

Even banned me from the team speak for no reason.

I hope you guys can either blacklist these guys or get me unbanned cause I would like my stuff back!

I would say it is his choice who he wants banned from HIS server.

Server admins can only bad for a reason listed at the bottom of this thread.

Banning for any other reason is not permitted by the DayZ dev team, so no he can't ban who ever he wants just because it is his server.

That being said, every story has two sides and without the other half of this story the devs have nothing to go on.

A quick search has pointed me towards www.10-78.com as being the clan that is responsible for US338 so I would suggest posting something in the Arma II section of their forums asking why you were banned.

Ok thanks I will give it a try. But he is being a child about the situation and instead of talking to me blocks me. I never insulted them or anything.

I'll check out that list of things to be banned by to see If I fit in.

That list does look to be a little outdated but its pretty much malicious talk, racism, hacking and I'm almost 100% sure people who ghost and Alt+F4 out of combat can also be banned.

I can not interfere and I do not believe any moderator can, though DayZ Staff can if necessary. However in my opinion that is just slang and not actually racist, because not only is it slang but you have no idea if they are either skin type. But that is just my opinion.

In my server there is zero tolerance for racism. It's simply not ok, even if it was slang.

I would have to agree that a ban for such a small things is pretty harsh.

At the very most a kick with a warning is what I would expect for such language, but then I'm a bit of a potty mouth ;)

I guarantee you I was not banned for saying that. You never even mentioned that remark to me ONCE. Not to mention it was not directed towards anyone. That is just an excuse because you wanted me out of the server in case I betrayed you guys. He is just taking the only evidence he has and stretching it out. I've been given the death penalty for a parking ticket. You even tricked me into going onto the server just so you could ban me!

Why not just be up front with the kid and tell him you don't want him to play with you anymore. Seems like a very indirect approach to a simple issue.

It's not uncommon for people to not mesh well with a clan but to try and nitpick for a reason to ban them without confrontation is just silly.

Of course I'm looking from the outside in with the provided info.

Either way, look for a new server. Clearly that one isn't a ideal choice.

in context theres nothing racist about the remark as it does not refer to a specific race of people, but its your server. but if you can get banned for a word thats definition is growing in popularity to refer to friends or even a group of people then it doesnt sound like to good of a server to play on anyways

This statement alone makes it clear that you were simply looking for any reason to ban him just because you didn't like him. The ban was not for violating any stated rule that you are allowed to ban for. You simply wanted to ban him and looked for the simplest thing you could use to do so. I hope your server is blacklisted for this.

It's a slang word used by just about every black man under the sun as a term of friendship or endearment. Just because it derived from a racist word and is similar to said racist word does not make the word itself racist.

It IS up to interpretation and everybody will have a differing opinion. But therin lies the problem.

Personally I think anything like this that can be left up to interpretation is a bad thing to ban for. Unless it is concrete and absolutely a ban offense with no room for interpretation or debate...don't ban.

At the end of the day the OP should just find another server as he stated he will. That is not to say the admins of the server should be allowed to abuse power. This thread alone will let a lot of players know that they don't want to join that server. I for one won't.

This ban was put in place for one simple reason. The word used can be offensive to others. The ban was discussed amongst clan members resulting in the ban. We will not tolerate any form of racism or derivatives of a racist remark/word. This is all to keep a friendly environment for all people to enjoy. This was in no way for the benefit of the clan or the people in said group.

As a black man...I don't want some damn kid using that word on our server. It's not ok; I find it racist and it will not be used in slang or any other way on our servers. This rule appies to our COD, Battlefield, Red Orchestra and every other server we run. If you like to use those words to express your intelligents or lack there of, please do so elsewhere.
