Server Restarts And Saves

hey,

so here is what happened first: i was in cherno downstairs in one of the apartement buildings when i heared shots fired from the top of the building. i waited thinking it had to be a playerkiller. when he came down i shot him. due to some sync-problems or whatever he managed to get some shots off too and we both died. he literally went down the stairs and had to turn to face me. i fired 12 ak shots directly at him and still he managed to kill me too. strange thing, but whatever. i make it back to my body, loot and wait upstairs because on the way 2 other players saw me and fired at me. then the message pops up: server is restarting in 10 minutes. i keep waiting what would happen. after a while i lose connection to the server. i dont think it was 10 minutes, but w/e. after that sixlauncher did not show the server any more.

heres whats really strange: when i logged on another server. i spawned south of cherno at the docks or whatever. starting equippment, so all my stuff is gone. i did NOT have to choose between male/female when logging in and when i made it back to my body i did NOT walk around that place where i now spawned.

my question: how often does my character safe on the hive? do serverrestarts fuck up my char/save?

can anyone explain to me wtf happened there?

Alpha is buggy. I'm on my third life today because of server restarts. Snipers are having a blast I'm sure, even though most still can't hit the broad side of a barn...

If a server message pops up saying it's going to restart you should log out to save your current character.

This. I have lost hours of time spent ingame due to admins restarting when they shouldn't have, or giving us less time than they said, "10 minutes until restart" turns into about 30 seconds. I didn't even have time to finish cooking 8 steaks and putting out my fire when BOOM, 2 hours lost.

So yeah, when you see the warning go ahead and bunker down before you hit Abort and have it save. If you don't, you risk losing so much.

(I have heard that if you don't log in to another server, and relog into the original when it comes back up, your data is still saved. But going to a different server reverts your save to an older one)
