Lost + Box of Matches?!

Firstly, loving the game! Played for a couple of weeks and love it - Spent most of the time dying and looking for supplies in Cherno/Elektro to eventually head North.

This life so far I have managed to obtain a DMR in a Fire Station in Cherno with 2 Magazines, had no idea they spawned here, but no complaints! - Got my supplies together too, some food, hatchet, knife, Makarov, Bandages and Morphine of course. I started venturing North only to start going East, then probably West, I'm sure I went back South by accident. Luckily, got a Compass in a random small village! So I am really heading North now!

Problem I have right now is I am very low on Blood - 4k, I do have 8 Raw Steaks from a friendly cow, but without a box of matches no way to eat the succulent steaks and restore blood. I have spent hours foraging random towns and have had no luck finding the matches to light my fire! - Is there any tips on finding these? I've personally only ever found them once in Elektro on my second life or something.

Second problem, I'm completely lost, lol. Tried using the Map on the Interwebs, but have found no features that I can discern, I believe I'm probably around 60-80% North up the map and a bit to the East, but even with that, not a clue. What can I do to find my way to somewhere I can go from without the lucky addition of finding a Map! :D

Umm the only place I've ever found a box of matches is in a super market, this was early in the morning right when everything spawned on the server basically. (yes things respawn when everything is taken, but how many people really take the tin cans?)

When you find a city before you go into it it will have a sign with the name of the city on it, find a map and find which roads to follow to get north. Good luck ^^

Find a map should have been one of your priority's as well when searching the city. Goes hand in hand with that compass.

My tip is search grocery stores or other low supply areas, I have come across so many packets of matches.

^ dang lucky ^^ I seem to have troubled finding them sometimes, right now I do not have a box of matches as I have EVERYTHING that could be needed to repair a vehicle into pristine condition, and I don't want to risk that stuff. So :/ hopefully I don't lose to much blood until I find a vehicle to repair :D

Trying to find a fuel efficient vehicle like an ATV but I will take anything I find ;P

Does an ATV or a motorcycle flip easier?

Lol guess I kinda got off topic -.-

But you can also light garbage cans on fire, does this require matches? I forget, but I don't think so. I wonder if you can cook on them ;3?

Also died and spawned somewhere where there was like a military camp, sneaked past the zeds and there was this large pile of debris you could light on fire, I did so. I wonder if you can cook on that?

I'm going to assume the motorcycle flips easier because of less traction (Two wheels) But don't take my word on it, I've never been able to repair one so far.

I find matches quite a lot in both apartment blocks and supermarkets actually, Sometimes in houses in small villages too, You can also find the quite plenty full in the bars in the major city's. Funny thing is i already have a box & found another in the supermarket in northern Berezino, As i have a box i left them.

Yeah I almost always find boxes of matches in the Supermarkets.

Find one of those and you should find matches.

As for figuring out where you are, like mentioned above, find a roadsign pretty much anywhere and then find that place on the map.

Once you have a general idea where you are, you can look for landmarks and buildings to get more specific.

I don't know if you can cook on the barrels flames, but you don't need matches to light them.

Also if you have a watch you could use this method to find north in the daylight.

I don't know if you can cook on the barrels flames, but you don't need matches to light them.

I don't think you can, These are used to warm your body up ... Although i agree you should be able to.

You can cook meat on barrels, I've done it myself.

To help with being lost, find a village and get the name of it from a signpost. You can usally find them by the main road on the edge of the village. Note down the name (it will be in Russian), then log out of game or go prone/afk ingame and look at a map and find that village name on the map. Presto, you are now not lost.

To find north just look at the way the clouds are moving... they always move east.
