Admin Server Tools

Recommended Posts

Not too sure if a thread has been started like this or not but thought it should be a key feature. As most admins know, its hard to manage a server being hit by children and there kiddie scripts. So thought i would start a thread that could allow other admins to share info, sofware etc that might help everyone out to create a better game play. Heres my five cents.

I came across a free text crawler that can look for specific keywords without having to open up and bottleneck your system with a 2gig log file. you can look for anything you like just increase the length of the default view string to see the entire line. There seems to be quite a few features that i havent worked out yet. http://www.digitalvo...ent/textcrawler

also i sometimes find if im in server console (depending on your game controler) that its easier to open a streaming window of the RTD and scripts.log in your log viewer. ctrl+a select all (especially if using chrome) , then ctrl+c to copy, open text file and paste ctrl+v. save as anything other than default due to some of the characters used i normaly save as utf-8. Save to something you will remember pref a date. This way once you open the text crawler it wont open the file but scan it for the keywords you input.

I am learning as i go along so please dont flame if this seems obviouse to some, for some this i think will be a help. Will be good to see what other input/tools admins use to netwok out to battle the infadel! :) If we network together we can help turn the tide :)

Hope it gets a sticky :)

Nice start and thanks for the thread.

I'll add:

Admins, make sure you run the latest script.txt and ban files:

latest ban files

Newer script detection file on first post, replace yours in BE folder

Hopefully BI is making some good $$$ off repeat key buyers, lets do our part in helping! :)

Using the default, or that scripts.txt, will not stop hackers. To actually kick for the most common scripts you will need to do some snooping around frequented hack forums, and add strings that cannot be redefined in a hack to your scripts.log. for example:

_vehicleList = vehicles; is redefinable. you could easily block this by adding 5 = vehicles to your scripts.txt, which omits the redefinable string.
