Moving to a new PC-Transfering current character over?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to transfer all my ARMA saves along with my DayZ stuff to my new PC? Actually, I know it's possible, my question is, exactly how would I go about doing that, what files do I need to transfer over to the new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Your DayZ character is saved to the CDkey, just install the game with the same CD key and your character will be there

Well that answers that question. Another question is what do I have to switch over from the old one to the new one to keep all my Steam saves that aren't saved by the cloud?

I tried moving over the Steamapps folder but it was around 100 gigs. Save files aren't gonna be that big, or is that the only way to make sure the saves switch over?

Your saved files from ArmA 2 are located in your "My documents folder" in the "ArmA 2" folder.

Most games are saved in the documents folder or in appdata folder. For all i know, your 100gigs of games could have the saved games in 50 different places making it very difficult to find.

Only advice i could give, is to google the games you want to save and figure where they save the files, and then back them up.

steamapps is the game installations, where they save to is dependant on the game.

Steam is nothing more than a place to buy, manage, run and use overlay, nothing much else at the end of the day.

So for ArmA you'd go into my docs, for some other game you might do same or go into steamapps/game folder
