khknight 3 Posted July 12, 2012 I already this, if you really wanna make friends then you must first ask them "do you need anything"? Offer them supplies, show them that you only care about making friends with others. It usually works for me. I gave a guy a blood transfusion and in return, I got a makerov with 5 clips

Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted July 12, 2012 There is no benefit to it. The game really just asks you to be a good person. Something I find wonderful about it, and also frightening.
doom4mr 135 Posted July 12, 2012 the chance to find a real friendly player is 0.07%
Miss_Nuts 9 Posted July 12, 2012 Tis just a test because I dont normally speak on direct chat. But tonight, I will and I will see if anything changes from playing a mute silo.
Miss_Nuts 9 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) I'm friendly, but uber paranoid. you give me confirmation in direct that I might trust you, I might. However I've been shot in the face by friendlies proclaiming to be friendly too many times to expect anything less than an icy reception! Survivor-Kyle 148 Posted July 12, 2012 Best of luck. I've found more friendly/neutral players than hostile ones. Granted, I don't run through town asking for attention, but hey-- they're out there.
CommodoreFrank 13 Posted July 12, 2012 I prefer to act casually instead of just yelling "friendly!". I don't think anybody trusts that call anymore.
Dr. Toros 8 Posted July 12, 2012 There is no benefit to it. The game really just asks you to be a good person. Something I find wonderful about it, and also frightening.Actually, the game just rewards you for shooting on sight and punishes you for not doing the same. What exactly makes you think it asks you to be a good person?
Achilles* 1 Posted July 12, 2012 Um, what server? Know the feeling of being shot by a 'friend', so I take all precautions...shoot on sight.
phienyx 14 Posted July 12, 2012 I, for one am done with this potentially great game and shitty community until they have a solution to every motherfucker you encounter shooting on sight. This is just fucking ridiculous.

Wargunner 55 Posted July 12, 2012 Good luck, you'll need it.The last time I said 'friendly' was the time a full AK mag was unloaded into me, with the kid on the other end of it shouting in a stupid voice 'hows this for friendly motherfucker!'.A compilation vid would be interesting to watch lol.
Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted July 12, 2012 Actually, the game just rewards you for shooting on sight and punishes you for not doing the same. What exactly makes you think it asks you to be a good person?Oh, I'm sorry. What I mean to say is that the act of "being a good person" is just that. There are no strings or benefits attached to encourage that decision. I think, despite it's flaws, that is a beautiful aspect of the game. When you encounter someone being helpful, you know that they must really be genuinely good. With no strings attached, you experience true intentions, rather than someone helping you because they want something out of some in game reward system. This of course exempting the idea that you could be deceived. And they aren't supported because of a lot of terrible mechanics. The game actively makes grouping difficult.
Batuhan87 24 Posted July 13, 2012 Tis just a test because I dont normally speak on direct chat. But tonight, I will and I will see if anything changes from playing a mute silo. There is no way to chat with players unless you are 40m near them.So don't expect any replies. The game is singleplayer :)
sixbarns 217 Posted July 13, 2012 Occupy Elekro.I was thinking about becoming a street preacher. I find it odd that there are no zombies running around with doomsday sandwich boards proclaiming the end has arrived.

andy_uk15@hotmail.com 70 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I remember, a week into playing Day Z, I came accross an unconcious player at the army camp south of the southern airfeild. I dragged him into a tent, bandaged his wounds and gave him blood that he was carrying in his backpack. That was my first selfless act, and it felt good. Especially considering he was a very sound guy- very greatful to be saved from starting over : his name was Raymond. This guy had an AK Kobra. There was no alteriour motive behind helping him, I generally saw a player that destinctly wasn't a threat lying on his back.We hung out for a bit, and met up with my freind. Pursued and killed a bandit taking (fortunately inaccurate) pot-shots at us from a treeline.Standing around, deciding our next move, the sound is broken by a sudden *BANG*! "Ugh i've been shot!" Raymond cries before slumping down to the ground. I immediately start scanning the horizon for the shooter... Failing to realise my freind standing over Raymonds dying avatar. *BANG* a shot rings out again, finishing him off...."Dude, what the fuc......" The last words of Raymond before he passes on.I look at my freind; he looks at me and says:"What? I was bored." I was baffled... I just couldn't believe his dick-headedness. I took the AK, and some other supplies from dear old Raymond and cleared off to the north... All the time cursing my freind for his dick move. However, I have changed in some respect while playing Day Z, I generally try to aid new, unarmed players... Until I get them a gun that is, then we part ways. My trust is fleeting. Day Z reminds me of things like battle royale, and the hunger games. Alliances are fleeting - at best. Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted July 13, 2012 The game actively makes grouping difficult. It's not active. Active would be punishing you for grouping with a status effect or something. It just does not at all recognize grouping, positively or negatively.
Trips28 2 Posted July 13, 2012 On my first encounters with another player he started screaming friendly and 2 seconds later unloaded a whole clip into me. This game rocks.
