Does your character save for all servers?

I just logged out from a server and I was wondering if my character sticks for all servers or is it just for the one.

I can't remember which one I left so I don't want to lose my items.

Your character sticks for all serves running the offical hive, most servers do. Unfortunatly there are a couple of servers that run a private hive, on these your character only sticks to said server.

How do I check if it's using the official hive?

My sister wants to play this game, but since there's only one character save it's a pain in the ass, would one of us playing on an official server, and one of us on one running a private hive, both be able to pretty much have our separate characters?
