Out of memory - change swap file

Recommended Posts

Everytime I try and run Day Z, the game crashes by the time I should be loaded into the server, saying that I am out of memory and that I need to enlarge my swap file. Problem is, I'm dumb with computers. I have 4gb of RAM as is, with 40gb of hard drive space. I used to never have memory issues when playing games, but as of late my computer has been bitching at me about my visual memory. I've tried both letting windows manage the paging file and making a really big custom one (1000mb-10000mb, for example).

Still, it won't run. Could someone help? Do I just need to buy another stick of RAM?

Basically just running a giant-ass paging file (10000-20000mb!). This has allowed me to play Day Z a couple of times. New 2gb stick of RAM on the way.
