The accidental bandit

So after playing this mod for a few days and mostly sneaking around the minor costal towns, I hit the jackpot in the form of an AK with a Kobra sight in the Balota control tower. I decided to raid Cherno and see if I could get all of the supplies needed to make my way north for the first time, got some matches, a water bottle, a compass and a hunting knife and decided to make my way to the NW airfield in search of bitchin' loot.

One huge uneventful hike later, I'm staring through a gap in the airfield fence to see if anyone else is there, I give it a good five minutes to see if there's any movement and I slowly make my way to the barracks on all fours. I get to the doorway and as soon as I cross the threshold another chap walks out of the far back room. We both unload into each other at almost point blank range and we both die. Oh well.

So later on I'm back on my feet at electro with a CZ550 I picked up from a barn and about fifteen rounds for it. A nice friendly guy with a shotgun helps me loot the hospital and we share out the morphine, epi-pens, etc and I go on my way once again north.

So I'm about a click out from the city, on the hill to the north with a good view of the surrounding area and I spot a guy with a tail of zombies and a Czech pack on running in circles about 600m away. I decide to go prone and see what happens. I was tempted to take a pot shot but he was eaten alive before I made my mind up, unlucky for him I suppose.

I make my way down the hill to loot his body, I hear flies but it's nowhere to be seen so I decide to play it safe and bugger off into the distance. As I get to the spot where I was watching from earlier, some asshat sprints over the crest of the hill and sprays an entire magazine at me from whatever gun he was holding.

One shot clips me in the leg. I hit the ground and fire. All of a sudden I pass out but I notice my murder count has ticked over to one. So when I wake up, I look around give myself some morphine, bandage my wound and loot the guy's corpse. Nothing worth taking but a revolver and some cans of food.

But now I've tasted blood. That was the easiest bit of gear acquisition ever and even though I’d decided I wasn’t going to be an asshole or a bandit in this mod, I can’t go back to scavenging houses now…

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Happens to me nearly everyday... yesterday I saw a guy ~100m away. He opend fire, I zig-zag into cover, my mates take him down with a bullet between his eyes. My friend said it was a murder, although in was defensive.

Self-defence is not counted properly, and I tink it is extremely difficult to achieve a fair solution.
