Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 So I had this idea at work together browsing through the forums of some people needing more "objective based" game play. Which I know this is not what this game is about, and i enjoy it just how it is. However what if we tried to take the current system and make a mode for those groups of people who like to work together as team to survive. Hear me out.Idea:Two groups of people lets say a Military based group and a bandit based, wanna hash it out to see who is the better group. We put them into a server which only they are allowed to access, spawn them randomly throughout the map, give them 30 days and see who survives the longest. The 2 groups have to meet up with each other teams members, set up camp, scavenge food/supplys and outlast the opposing team, while avoiding the zed horde and the enemy team. The teams would start off fresh, and unable to transfer any equipment with them.Scoring:There were many ways I could think off to score, which all have pros/cons. Could:Base if off deaths, but one team could just log out and never come back on. Base it off kills, same problems as above.Give them all one life only once your dead your booted from the server till the game is over, but might turn into just a deathmatch.Based off combined hours survived.Based off amount of stuff scavenged up.List could go on. The core of Dayz would stay the same, to survive just this game mode opens it up for player/clan/groups to put there survival skills to the test. I am not so great with explaining my ideas but I hope you get what i'm saying. Ain't something im suggestion just something to discuss.
forte (DayZ) 3 Posted May 18, 2012 http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3409I think this should be the future of DayZ Clan warsIt stays true to the sandbox nature of the game
Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 I was thinking so, still could use alot of detail but atleast i got the idea of it along, and would go perfect with those people declaring war.
Kophka 109 Posted May 18, 2012 I love it. It doesn't detract from the point of Day Z (to survive), it offers a competitive mode to the people that want it, and it would make for some completely awesome coverage/story telling. It's win-win-win! :D

Gives more power to the players.
Pallidum 33 Posted May 18, 2012 So, basically you want to take a sandbox and fence it off?So, I "wardec" some pubbie clan, we get a dedicated server just to ourselves, then we can freely go around looting every single good loot location without anyone else being able to get onto our server?Sounds awesome and not exploitable at all. ;)
Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 It be you and you rival team on the same server, basically its your team vs there team for survival!
Pallidum 33 Posted May 18, 2012 Awesome. So, I find a team, "wardec" them, then both teams can loot at their leisure. :)
Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 Why we have it set time limit and nothing transfers over... how is that exploitable?
Pallidum 33 Posted May 18, 2012 Oh, so what would be the point of that?Stop fencing in the sandbox.
Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 Did yall read the whole post? Do you understand the point of it? If not go somewhere else. This is a discussion not a place to tell other how stupid there ideas are, so come back later when you have something productive to say.
Pallidum 33 Posted May 18, 2012 The reason why it won't work is because you're taking a sandbox game (DayZ) and turning it into a team deathmatch. You no longer have a sandbox.EVE Online is a sandbox game. We handle wars just fine without having to fence anything in. Our wars are some of the biggest in gaming, with tens of thousands of players involed on either side. There's treachery, backstabbings, theft, scams and tears, all due to the sandbox nature of the game. That's how you do wars in a sandbox game, by letting the sandbox be the battlefield, not by fencing it in and establishing rules that take away from the sandbox nature.Oh, and... you're a poopyhead. Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 The sandbox is still in effect, this is a way for 2 clans to settle a dispute without others getting in the way.
Pallidum 33 Posted May 18, 2012 How is it in effect if no one else can affect the sandbox?Would it not be so much better if the sandbox would allow for all kinds of interaction? What if I want to mess with both "clans" that are warring? What if another group wants to join in?Just keep it in the sandbox instead of trying to fence it in. Toez 1 Posted May 18, 2012 Well that is your opinion, thanks.
BlackAlpha 12 Posted May 18, 2012 I think it takes away from the atmosphere of the mod. Fighting other groups is fun due to the dynamic and unknown nature of the game. The thing that makes the game so interesting is that it feels like you are playing in a living breathing world and you never know what you will come across. When you turn the game into a team deathmatch, it won't be as exciting to fight other groups or raid their camps, because the game will become a lot more static and less mysterious. But that's just my opinion. tajin 17 Posted May 18, 2012 Hmm if you just want to battle another group to see who's better, then why don't you simply join an ArmA2 server with a PvP mission on it and duke it out there?Theres no need to include a deam-deathmatch feature in DayZ, because Teamdeathmatch is already in the game. With a bit of editing knowledge you can even make TDM maps that behave almost the same way as DayZ does in terms of playerdamage. sfvkye 3 Posted May 18, 2012 Two clans on a server with a remote chance of bumping into eachother is good enough. If people are seriously considering this then maybe its time to lower the chances of food and drink in the game.
