Melee Weapon and Rifle?

Just wondering if its possible to not drop or store your primary weapon just to use a melee weapon.

Its quite possible, but you need a bigger bag as the original only has 8 slots and most primary weapons are 10 slots +

There's a suggestion ongoing where the hachet will be switched ti sidearm, which I think is great.

Should have the hunting knife as a melee weapon, but take like 10 hits to the body, or 3 to the head for a kill. That could be a sidearm, as it doesn't technically take the same space as an axe or crowbar, but also doesn't have the damage to make it fit in with the big boys.
