ZigZagGamer 12 Posted July 12, 2012 This idea has been floating around for a while, i always thought it was great.Classes would be a great idea for the game would enhance how you play. Here some idea's i have for classes (May have been brought up)The Medic - Allows you to apply bandages, Blood bags, Morphine etc. quicker to yourself and others. In adittion you could spawn with an extra Bandage (Now that you no longer spawn with a weapon sometimes you tend to get hit by zombies and use up your bandage and may not find one around although they're common.)The Soldier - A weapons expert with Assault rifles, more steady when aiming after sprinting, additionally reloads AR's quicker.Reloading can be slow especially when zombies are coming at you and a slight increase of reload speed would help.(Can combine half full mags?)The Police Officer - A weapons expert with Handguns, Carries the same qualities as the soldier but with Secondaries instead. The Theif - The Theifs foot steps are much more quiet than regular players, making zombies less likely to aggro, and players less likely to hear your footsteps. Can open back packs worn by players upto 10 steps away instead of 5.The Survivalist - The name sounds like a regular player but the survivalist would gather extra meat from animals, and his hunger/thirst would run down a little slower than other players.Possibly the idea of lighting a fire without matches? (As if he lit it the old fashioned way!)just some idea's, Put in your own Idea's if you like, and give feedback whether you agree on some of these or not, I think your player being defined by a class would make teams absoloutely brilliant!
bake 0 Posted July 12, 2012 I strongly disagree and suggest the opposite. Don't constrain players to set roles but give them the means to express their own style.
L0G!N (DayZ) 149 Posted July 12, 2012 I think this idea does the same, but give people way more freedom in how they want to play the game: shameless selfplughttp://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29729-if-you-are-good-at-something-professions-teamwork/

Jean Jacques Serrault 37 Posted July 12, 2012 I strongly disagree and suggest the opposite. Don't constrain players to set roles but give them the means to express their own style.I agree with you, Bean. What about making perks system instead? Every player will get a progress exp point for doing specific things, such as medic, advanced medic, master surgeon, etc for healing other people only. The mechanic would be more or less like that in Killing Floor but without class restrictions. And, make the progress very very hard to be able to get even a single mastery in a perk so it'll become interesting. That's just my opinion, put yours. :)
I_Guts_I 7 Posted July 12, 2012 This is a very bad idea. No offense, everyone has one. This will take away from everything DayZ is meant to be. A game where you choose how to play and although I dont like the classes Idea. What would work is a experience system where if you will become more proficient and can use more advanced gear as you gain experience and become a veteran. L0G!N (DayZ) 149 Posted July 12, 2012 Lets just keep perks and classes out of DayZ and try to solve things with Authentic or Believable (which ever word you prefer) tools, that fit on the already there toolbelt. If the toolbelt is small and the 'tools' plentyfull, there will automatically be 'classes' in the game, but they will all be player created and you are not locked into a particular setup just because you choose class X or be locked in a certain ability because you added +1 to the medic tree... pixelbl4ster@yahoo.ca 7 Posted July 12, 2012 It kinda reminds me of Dead Frontier. Which is a browser based zombie mmorpgIt had all these classes which gave advantages to certain stuff at the beginning.
