New Players: Loot, Routes & Info

Hello all,

I've been playing for a little over three weeks now on & off.

I really enjoy reading the forum for tips, strats and stories but lately, all I've noticed is thread upon thread of new players finding it difficult to kit up and generally getting raped.

I don't claim to be a pro or anything, I only got ARMA to play this mod but did dabble with Operation Flashpoint back in the day.

If I'm a new spawn, I just look at it as I've got nothing to lose. So If I spawn anywhere east or Elektro i'll head there and vice versa for cherno. Just gun in there, I sometimes enter with a train of zombies, sometimes not, but either way I'm hauling ass to get to the nearest decent building.

Hit the right places hard & fast for each city. I normally go for the Churches, two or three story buildings, supermarkets & hospitals. I sometimes run into fellow survivors and bandits alike but if like me you play on 3DP servers use it to your advantage. It's pretty damm easy to run long side the supermarket in 3dp and see if anyone is in there before looting it.

From entering to leaving it takes me all of about 10-20 minutes. In that time I will usually have kit something like this:

Alice/Cheq Pack

Enfield, AKM, winchester

Mak/M11

Ammo

Food

Water

Medical Supplies

Hatchet

Hunting knife

Wood Pile

Matches

Sometimes a Map

Sometimes a Compass

Then it's all yours to survive. For me i'm exploring the North right now. So i'm enjoying finding camps, heli crashes and such.

I'm always quite careful when leaving the city, don't want to lose all my good loot!!

God knows if this might will help anyone but that's how I'm getting along right now and thoroughly enjoying it, as this is probably the greatest mod I've ever played. Even with the bugs & hiccups with the new patch, it's the most immersive and emotion invoking game I've played.
