(I will always remember this experience.)

I had been finding my way through the wilderness. Starting from Kamenka, I made my way north. I had hoped to build myself up, get stronger, but avoid any danger.

The woods were dense and I lost my way several times, until I finally found a compass. That helped. My plan was to make it up to the Airbase where I figured I would have the best chance of surviving future altercations.

I ran, walked and crawled my way through the trees, sometimes seeing a couple of Zeds in the distance, but rarely engaging them. After awhile I was low on food, and water. I had finally found a Winchester to which I had earlier scrounged some ammo for.

That felt good to have in my hand.

To get the Winchester though, I had belly crawled through a vast open field in order to get into a warehouse. Amazing that even when the Zeds are almost on top of you, they don't 'see' you.

As I continued on my way, my situation with water and food had become a major problem. An encounter with Zombies and lack of energy left me with blurry vision...still I was able to kill a couple of Z-Boys, but they yielded nothing.

Then I fell, my vision was grey...."Was I just shot?", I asked myself....

No. I had exhausted my body. I could make out a steeple in the distance....Lopatino!

Yet a long way.

When you are this tired, all you can do is crawl. And I would...that is for about a minute, then I would pass out.

I kept repeating this task. Crawl and pass out...crawl and pass out.

"Was I getting closer to the church?"

"How far is it?" (I figured a half mile or so)

Then I thought of God. I was never a religious man, so why was I hoping that intervention from God would save me.....sounded kind of hypocritical.

Still I kept crawling...right upon a Zombie hoping around....he was less than 10 feet from me...

...Blurry...I took my shot....and missed.

...he came at me and at point blank range, I dropped him.

Then the horde came.

And all was Peaceful.
