General Q's and Info

What? Kreaol has questions?!? Yes, believe it or not, I do have to research things SOMEHOW.

What is the difference between Recruit, Regular, Expert, and Hardcore modes?

What does CH:ON or CH:OFF mean in server titles?

Is that for global chat?

If so, do players need an earlier Beta version to not have global chat restricted? If so, which one?

Can you gut a squirrel?

Give your top 3 tips for surviving up north

Give your top 3 tips for looting the NW airfield

Give your top 3 tips for finding where you are on the map when you do NOT have any tools (using the online map is fine, even recommended)

Where have you found bear traps? Did you step in it or was a new loot pickup?

Why do people insist that tomatoes MUST be fruits (and who really freaking cares)?

Why do people insist that tomatoes MUST be fruits (and who really freaking cares)?

Surviving up North, the basics:

1. Matches

2. Hatchet

3. Hunting knife

Looting NW Airfield, easy mode:

1. Friend A

2. Friend B

3. Friend C

Finding yourself on the map:

1. Print out a map and learn how to read contour lines.

2. Know what time it is on the server and locate the sun.

3. Look for landmarks like long slender fields, large outcrops of rock, a tiny shed in the middle of no where, a steep and tall mountain with another peak in the distance, and anything else that seems unique. Use all of above to find yourself on the map. (A compass makes all of this easier.)

Tomato, meh.

once you can hunt and cook , the water bottle is much needed, better if you have a couple.

does not hurt if you run into a downed chopper either.

btw if you spawn on another server and been comfy in one area, check the surrounding area, i been hanging in a area where i had not seen any people, then all of the sudden i switch servers and there are a few tents on the one ridge i been hanging out on, nothing in them , and did not see the owners, but spidey sense was buzzing.

oh yeah, if you did not know already the smoke grenade is a excellent source of a zombie distraction, just dont toss it anywhere near you, or where you want to go

ch = crosshair.

Server difficulty was just discussed in another thread http://dayzmod.com/f...veteran-expert/

Whether server is recruit, regular, veteran or expert is irrelevant, because server admin can change individual settings in the config. Essentially, you could have everything disabled in regular but 3rd person and crosshair enabled in Veteran, etc.

Not many servers use the defaults, but default difficulty settings are here: http://wiki.zspecial...iculty_Settings

Ideally every server would have settings such as 3rd person and crosshair mentioned in the server name. Unfortunately the current server naming standard does not define them as mandatory elements: Server Naming

Sweet. Most of the stuff I already know, it's just when I add a video to the GuideZ channel someone almost always gives another tip or two that really shoulda been in the video.
