Now that we have a mod's attention, I was curious.. May I kick someone in order to play on my own server? How does that work?

Seriously? If I was paying to run a server, I would expect to be able to play with my friends on that server. Hosts are not a civil service, they're a privilege provided by the server hosts. I would certainly be upset if I was kicked, sure, but it's that server ops prerogative, and if you don't like it, don't play on that server.

There are limits to this, particularly where a specific server is bringing a bad name to the whole mod, but at the same time, server hosts are doing a service with no expectation of reward.

If this were another game with another dev, I would agree. But thankfully, Rocket has outlined exactly what will and won't be tolerated by server admins, and kicking for friends is one of them.

As for the question of whether you can kick to let yourself in if you are the server host - I have no idea.

I would agree with you if people paid for server space. And anyway, there are many servers out there.

Frankly, I would not be interested in running a server if I have to pay for 5 TB of bandwidth a month plus housing for a massive beast of a machine with all the options, and then get told that I can't kick some random 12 year olds so my friends can get on and actually play on the same server as me.

I'm sitting on the Teamspeak for the devs of DayZ. I shouldn't be hard to pick out. I would like for someone to come and explain to me the reasoning behind the rules and specify why our clan wasn't told of these rules prior to us signing up.

Well, in the long run, Rocket will have to do something about the business model of his mod.

People won't pay for servers they can't even play on. And after several months, a lot of servers will not be refunded. And for a mod like that, no server means no mod.

Yes, it's quite irritating to be kicked, but mind you they provide a server for you, most of the players who didn't even gave a dollar.

So, rocket will have to get a company to rent him servers, or allow people who rent the server at least to be able to play.

Tiri, the vast majority of server hosts are absolutely fine with it. So, yeah, they're the rules. Proceed to go out, buy a pack of playing cards, open it up, and deal with it.

Thread locked, I hope the hosts can sort out their problems with the devs.

In future, please do not bother making threads for these sorts of issues, and send a PM to the server hosts, and if they do not respond or you feel the response is unsatisfactory, send a PM to a mod on these forums.
