Server hopping needs to stop or patch it.

lock a player to a server for 30mins after taking damage, receiving damage, or looting. you cant server hop if youre bound to a specific server. Make a 30 sec logout timer, where a player must remains still and not intereact with anything to log out safely(successful logout unbinds server in 10 mins.), Make DC and alt-f4s stay in place for 3mins after logging but no new zeds will aggro in this state(to aid honest disconnects).

Do this and all the D/Cers will actually have to play the game or go back to cod.... Now if only we can find a way to castrate the invisible glitchers...

Let's be real here though. I highly doubt this will get fixed any time soon as it's pretty much been allowed since the beginning of DayZ. Surely rocket would have seen this as a problem by now right?

It has nothing to do with "being allowed since the beginning." The problem is the way that the client and server are designed in ArmA. The server doesn't really track the player. It doesn't make changes to the player. The client reports updates to the player to the server and the server distributes that info back to the other clients (and the Hive for DayZ). When a client disconnects, the server doesn't mantain a copy of that character because it was never intended to. In ArmA, there was no was need for it to do anything like that.

It isn't that Rocket is ignoring the problem or doesn't think it is a problem. There are serious technical limitations to what he can do that will have any effect on this behavior. Hopefully BIS isn't making ArmA III with the same basic client/server architecture.

Wonder if a logout timeer is even possible with this client/Server structure.

Maybe one way would be to just not be able to choose a server you want to log in.

Instead of a list of servers you jhave a list of friends who are online to join them, or you just join a server with the best ping.

Would it make more difficult for ghosting.

Why not add a 30second delay and that you need to stay still under the time when you click abort, although this will not stop server hopping completely it will make it less more attractive since you get to wait 30 seconds staying completely still, and if you do this do get around other players you sure dont want to stand still for that long if you only purpose is repositioning to get around them.

1. 30-60 second wait on logouts. (in an ideal world it could be set per server according to preference much like CH and 3D)

2. Death on logout if bleeding.

3. 10min wait to reconnect to the same server but only if you have connected to a different server in the mean time. (i.e. if you disconnect from server A and connect to server B you can't get back on A for 10mins.)

I would just like to hear if any of the above is possible.

Since you PC fags have always told us Console fags that "dedicated servers" are the best how about assigning characters to each server.

You usualy have more players than slots on a server. What would you do if your server is full?
