Hunting

I haven't had any problem hunting animals for food until last night and this morning. I must have played a good 3 to 4 hours over all and covered a lot of ground. I didn't see one animal, not even a rabbit. In my travels through the woods I usually see lots of rabbits, goats, boars and often see cattle in open fields, but nothing now. I only have one can of food.

Also, during my hunting travels I stopped at a good half dozen barns and houses and have not found any cans of food. I both hunted and searched for loot on 2 different servers in case one was buggy.

Ok, my question is, how do the animals spawn in DayZ?

Are certain animals spawned in certain areas?
