Coldkill (DayZ)

If you're very new, I'll share my thoughts.

As you know, you start out pretty much naked. You have to try your best to find some gear, normally inside some towns nearby or other zombie infested infrastructure. So, how would one be successful in living more than 38 minutes?

Ok, first I have noticed that zombies are pretty much blind as a bat at night. So, you can pretty much make your way right past them if you are prone and are sure not to make more than "1bar" of noise.

So what do you do if you get chased? Weather it is day or night (much easier to loose them at night), what I do is this.

I run out to an open field (standing run full sprint). I dont care how much more aggro I get on the way to my open field. I keep running and dodging in and out of foliage, you know, the small brown and green bushes that are about 6 feet tall. The zombies tend to stop running after me for a second, then give chase again. Just by weaving through the foliage I can get it down to usually 1 stubborn ass zombie. A little more jukeing in and out of bushes while looking behind me and I notice he is far back, now I crouch and run while Jukeing through bushes again till I lose the last one.

The 15 shot rifle is eppic for us noobs. The Winchester I think it is called. Keep an eye out for a bigger backpack laying around as well. Keep only 1 stack of flairs/glowsticks (if you really want to use em at night which I dont cause it attracts other players to me).

To conserve bag space, I will carry only the ammo to the gun I actually have on my person. Along with my side arm ammo. I dont pick up extra ammo that goes to guns I dont have so long as I am liking my current setup. Keep a supply of canned food and soda for the quick quench of hunger and thirst and keep an eye out for a canteen. Combat knife will be used for gutting animals so you can really go hunting for food.

Just my thoughts for now.....Thank you rocket for one incredible game mod!
