MaTMaN1344 0 Posted July 10, 2012 That would be awesome to have and take up 2 invetory spots but the higher grade snipers could shoot through it
sparta436 46 Posted July 10, 2012 or skins could just have different properties that affect your player. like weather protection, bullet resistance, all that jazz
moofactory 62 Posted July 10, 2012 I think this is a valid point.Skins should have practical purpose not just appearance... Ghilli suit has practical applications based on appearance. However the combat skin is purely asthetic. However it looks like your wearing a flack jacket wearing it.It should have a higher hit resistance... or body armor should be an added item in game.Protects from 1 hit kills to the torso
Madfast 22 Posted July 10, 2012 Correct me if I am wrong, but no current bullet proof vest can stop a high caliber bullet, such as that from a military grade sniper. They are only effective against guns with a lower caliber or lower muzzle velocity. So in keeping with the whole feeling of authenticity that wouldn't really fit, if I shoot you with my .50cal anti material rifle, you should go down regardless of what you are wearing. Best way to combat snipers is not too be seen.
saz 3 Posted July 10, 2012 Even a normal AK round would put you out of action. Even if it doesnt pierce the vest, the force alone would create large internal bleeding.
doom4mr 135 Posted July 10, 2012 at least vests may protect from zombies hit so I think its a good idea.
Howler 12 Posted July 10, 2012 It would have to be rarer than NVGs or something for it to be found in a place like Chernarus.Contrary to popular belief not all fictional Eastern European towns would be abundant with kevlar ;)It's a no from me, but only because it would be more trouble to implement than it actually being fun to see in action. saz 3 Posted July 10, 2012 Things like this will probably be implimented into the mod when (if) it gets ported to Arma 3 since it will have a system for this built into the base game.
stielhandgranate 480 Posted July 10, 2012 military grade sniper. What? Being a sniper doesn't make rifle rounds hit harder. Or are you referring to a sniper rifle? The term "sniper" refers to a individual using a rifle for long distance shooting.Even a normal AK round would put you out of action. Even if it doesnt pierce the vest' date=' the force alone would create large internal bleeding.[/quote']http://www.bulletproofme.com/Body_Armor_Accessories_Rifle_Protection.shtml#LevelsIf stuck at a plate by 7.62 39/51 you may break some ribs, but not die. However there is no protection from 50. BMG.Does the vanilla game even have a armor mechanic?
tropiK (DayZ) 6 Posted July 10, 2012 Don't need a sniper rifle to shoot through a real flak jacket...Anyway I've always thought this would be a good addition and it seem like one that would eventually be implemented anyway. In my mind you'd have your flak jacket take up a couple inventory slots, like OP said, and on top of that you'll run a bit slower because if thr added weight if sapi plates and such. But it can protect you from pistols all the way intermediate rifle rounds, potentially. So for instance, say you have your flak on and u get shot in the chest by a M4. You have a 50/50 chance to take damage or not. That sort of thing...That's what I would like to see anyway.
