trylan 25 Posted July 9, 2012 Not sure if this is the right thread so move it if its not, but heres my take: So as I'm seeing it so far, this game is about survival in a post-apocalyptic senario... and how we as people will react in this kind of simulation. Well from what i've seen and read so far, things are taking to what i would sort of expect: people are forming groups/clans outside of the game and running servers as they would a "town or area" thats well known to someone, others are simply going with "a shoot on site and trust no one since im getting shot at now" moral..everyone seems to think that if a real apocalyptic type of situation happened everyone would turn on their best friends and neighbours and just start eating everyone and raping everything in site that wasnt dead...i dont get why? Our human instincts are for survival so yes you would be untrusting of someone you didnt know, but at the same time would you really just shoot someone or come swinging at them with an axe when you meet them when there would be so few people out there and so many more threats?some input maybe? ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted July 9, 2012 Your post rambles somewhat but I'll try to respond reasonably.First, I'll say that the goal of the mod/game is not necessarily to recreate reality. rocket himself has said that worrying too much about what is "realistic" or what would really happen in this scenario is not productive. We cannot hope to predict the social and psychological ramifications of a worldwide extinction-level event, nor do we have a lot of accurate information about how far removed we are from the outbreak of the infection. It could be "28 days later" or for all we know we could be two generations removed from the outbreak. Maybe we all grew up in a world knowing nothing but death and loneliness? How can we hope to understand what impact being raised in a world such as that depicted by DayZ would have on infants, toddlers, children who then grow into men having never known the world of today, only the after-world of DayZ? The pain, the emptiness, the constant threat of death? These things shape people in ways we cannot possibly hope to understand or predict.Second, I can tell you that I already do no trust strangers. If the world were ending and any can of beans might be my last, I really do not think that my love of people I have never met before would somehow take a turn for the better. I think the opposite would be true. I would seek out my trusted friends - those who survived - and do my best to build a self-sufficient zone of safety and security to wait out the disaster. If some random Joe Schmoo came waltzing up the gate brandishing an M16 and asking to be admitted, I do believe I might seriously consider opening a hole in his brainpan the size of an immature coconut. If things were really desperate, I might preserve and cure the body for potential future consumption.Say what you will, when shit hits the fan I plan on being the fan. I've already killed the person closest to me, been to prison for it and been out. and i still trust people i dont know, although not that well. I have been to hell and back, and yes I have seen some crazy shit. My question is, why does everyone think that everyone will suddenly turn on their neighbours and start raping them?and ya i dout some idiot would walk up to your base with his m16 out going "hey shoot me in the face"and if you never have any trust for strangers, then how did you make your friends? EXACTLY the same as the world is today! minus law and order!your gonna have goodie goods running around screaming save the planet!your gonna have pedos stealing children!your gonna have hippies forming drum circles!your gonna have armed militia running over hippies!your gonna have colony's of people following a guy who looks like jesus!your gonna have colony's of people following satan!------------------------------people who say that absolutely every ones gonna join hands and work together are delusional.people who say that absolutely every ones gonna go solo paranoid, trust no one KOS are delusional.------------------------------look i cant remember who posted it in the last week, but the guy said it perfectly.something along the lines of. dont be naive, we invented laws for a reason, and there is a reason they have to be enforced. you got good people, you got bad people. and thats only if you believe in that duality of good and evil. me, i personally try not to draw that line. if your a pedo, yea id call that evil, and i am for the government changing the law to either castrate or execute you for permanently screwing up a child. no mercy for pedos.but as far as morals in DAYZ compared to real world. fuckin please... look ill tell you exactly what will happen in a DAYZ scenario. and its really simple. trylan 25 Posted July 9, 2012 thats very well put, thanks. thats somewhat of a view that i had... but yes people will still try to re-form their law somehow, and the hippies will join jesus and the pedos will join satan evetually...and society will try to rebuild itself as you see on the servers IE: clans forming and making bases on servers with their own medic teams, taking over towns... etc etc.. I spend most of my time playing and/or thinking about games in my room with the blinds drawn.If the world ended I probably wouldn't know for about a month when I finally went out for groceries and was like "Oh, shit.
