DE9 Admin abuse - rolling back server time to retain gear

Recommended Posts

Me and a few friends were in the Elektro area when we came across a couple of 'place2be' members (owners of the server) running across a field. After killing them and taking their loot, not long afterwards we found their car stashed in the woods above Dobry.

We took the car and hid it away in the north.

One of the members said something in German, something like 'that was gay'.

5 minutes later, an admin message came up saying 'server restart in 1 min due to login bug' Yeah, sure.

Server was restarted, and when logging back in, it was as if the server had been taken back roughly 20 minutes previously. We had lost all the loot we had taken, spawned in different locations and the car had 'disappeared'.

ie Admins rolled back the server in order to retain their items/car but in the process lost everyone else on the server any loot they had found in the last half an hour. So yeah, basically it doesn't matter how many times you try and kill these guys they will just keep rolling back the server as they see fit. mmm dat abuse.

Admins don't have the power to roll servers back.

What happened was you and your guys didn't log out or save your car by what your post looks like at the one minute warning, so your characters final location is wherever the servers last save to hive was which happens every several minutes intermittently. If you did not save your vehicle, it would have reverted back to it's last saved location.

That's why it seems like they rolled it back. A truly douchebag abusive admin would not have given you even a short 1 minute warning. When you see that, it's best to stop get out save your car and exit to lobby for the restart to ensure the car is saved, and all of your characters force save by logging out so you are all in the same spot with your freshly acquired goods when it comes back up.

You cannot make sure that it actually was because of that.

It does makes people aware of wat may occur in this server.

If it happens frequently we can most certainly say that its admin abuse, right now we cant.

I dont know if you noticed the login bugs caused by 1.7.2 ?

Many people were not able to login so the server was restarted.

So stop talking nonsense if you dont have ANY idea what you are talking about just to blame the admins for any disadvantage.

Seems awful coincidental if you don't mind me saying. Seeing as it was the admins that we killed or at least one of their members. Needless to say, whatever happened we lost a lot of gear regardless and was mighty strange they chose to restart at that point so rapidly.

Just voicing the possibility of this, if the servers sync periodically and people are aware of the timings, restart accordingly in your favour to miss the sync. But its cool, its not like I died and lost everything because of it. Seemed suspicious is all.

It does seem suspicious, but he gave a warning indicating that the server restart was coming. That doesn't seem like something an in the heat of the moment angry admin would do, because it gives you time to save your stuff away from them. Also it is impossible to tell when the server is syncing data, because its happening all the time.

howsoever,

I apologize in the name of the whole team for any lost stuff.

The restart was scheduled by myself and at this moment I did not heard anything about a car theft, thats because we use different TS Channels and I was working on the Loginproblem at this time. So I did not noticed what was going on ingame.

I hope its great for you to hear, that we could not get back the car at this time.

greetings
