Zombies slow to spawn on run into town... a ton spawn while you are in a building?

Anyone else feel like you run into a town with minimal zombies spawned only to hear them pop up all around the building you are in? then when you come out, it seems like they are all over the place?

I've gone in to several towns pretty quickly... then come out of a building or climbed up to the top of a building and looked out and there are a ton of zombies that were not there before.

Maybe it's just a perception issue on my part.

No. It definitely happens. I get the feeling it happens on full servers, or servers that haven't been restarted in a while, though it might just be happening during peak hours instead.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. First noticed it with vehicles, then running on foot. I can be halfway through a medium sized town and *poof* zombies start to appear en-mass.
