Screen fading

While playing, my screen will either flash solid white and then fade back or flash to all black and fade back. It happens day or night and always while moving or looking around. Usually more frequent when moving.

Steam version, launching through Six. Currently only getting to play on my laptop, wife is in the hospital, Windows 7 Home 64bit, Intel i7 2.13GHz, 8G Ram, ATI mobility Radeon HD 5870. DXDiag attached

Is it unplayable like this?

DayZ (specifically, the Arma 2 beta) has a slight lighting bug/feature where the screen will adjust to the lighting:

Its more like the second video, but it goes either completely black or white all of the sudden and fades back to normal.

Try turning shadows off and post-processing effects off and report back.
