Melee weapon trade-off

An abillity to trade off the secondary weapon slot OR the primary weapon slot for a melee weapon. or both.

The weapons should be degradable, to compensate not using ammo.

example: Millitary knife for secondary slot

golf club/ fire axe/ machete for main weapon.

We already have hunting knives and entrenching tools in the game. Why not a simple melee attack function that uses whichever one (or the better of the two) that you're carrying? Personally I think that would make the E-tool far more functional than just filling the very very rare sandbags.

Melee weapons with stamina would work , instead of them being degradable.

Chainsaw would be hilarious because of the noise and havoc it would attract.

Wouldn't want any unrealistic weapons like katanas. How many katanas could you find in the wilderness of Russia?

Just make melee a last resort option, not the main way of killing zombos. It should work.

I think the drawback with melee weapons is you have to be near a zombie to use it, which is a dangerous proposition in the first place.

I suggest the following:

1. Melee weapons take up the primary weapon slot, and don't break and don't tire you more than normal.

2. You randomly start with a melee weapon such as a baseball bat, or a fire axe.

Optional: Knives for the sidearm slot, can be used in place of a hunting knife for gutting.

Optional: Have the melee weapon at start replace the makarov rather than complement it.

The advantage of starting with a melee weapon in your primary slot is

a) you have something to use when you have no ammo, right now you can't even punch zeds,

b) you can climb ladders.
