Stalker

I used to be a massive fan of the old stalker games (no longer in production sadly since the game company who created the amazing games throwing in the gloves) and am joyed to see what I gather is a bigger, better and multiplayer stalker STYLE game (Set in a post apocalyptic Russian world, where you start with very little... importance of food, water, bandages, medical drugs, time, stealth, scavenging for supplies and weapons, steep learning curve, lots of deaths until you figure out the world, random weather, life and death decisions ect ect ect ) And yes.... I know Stalker is dated but this Mod is what I see Stalker as being if they had kept up the game.

Am I correct in my assumptions? Are there other people who played Stalker or Stalker style games who would recommend this? Or should I just save my money? Do the other human players add to the world in a believable sense? Or should you expect to be killed by every other human player out there that you don't know personally. (which could potentially ruin the enjoyment of the game from what I've been been told, and read, about that game...but having not played that means next to nothing)

Note: Haven't bought ARMA2, although I have played ARMA before and enjoyed the game. And before everyone jumps on the 'stop being such a cheap ass, buy ARMA and try the game yourself and make up your own mind bandwagon' the whole purpose of this thread is to get some opinions of some people already playing to help the people sitting on the fence in regards to this mod / game. So many times a game has been hyped up and doesn't make the grade.

Just watch some videos to see what the gameplay is like and decide that way. You can see exactly what the gameplay is like and compare it to Stalker.

As someone who is still playing STALKER (or waiting for the release of LOST ALPHA) I can highly recommend this mod. The atmosphere is almost as intense as in the STALKER games, it is simply more focused on PVP, which means it doesnt have much singelplayer/coop content (no story, no quests, no different monsters, no anomalies etc).

Interestingly recently Rocket confessed to having never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Which is a shame i def think he should!

I was telling a friend in the pub last week about Day Z and he said it sounded similar to Stalker. Not played it myself, should really fix that.
