It may use a private HIVE, as several servers do these days. In that case, just play on a server connected to the normal HIVE and your problems are solved.

Getting a new character is correct. This is a private hive its not connected to the normal DayZ hive. If you join a non-private hive server you will still have the character from the standard hive.

its also in the servername though... "Veteran Private Hive Server"

I can confirm that there were no admins in the server last night.

So it must have been someone hacking. Did you get a name? I'll look at the database and see what was going on.
