Can they see my vehicle on the map?

I'm playing on a server which allows map markers. I can see the blue ATV symbol on my map, can other players see it too?

Can you see other vehicles on the map? I think a vehicle becomes visible on the map once it has been "spotted".

I would like an answer similar to that...

My friend frequently go onto a server when its night time due to it being easy to see (its not solid black) but we're still playing night time rather than 24/7 day light. Anyway.... This server as cross hair enabled, target tagging and interestingly a very active map.

Now I can look at my friend and he appears as "Man" and then after some time he might appear as "Sniper" or "Rifleman", on occassions this has led to me discovering a guy lying in a bush in the middle of a field (Lol I know) by chance I was looking at my map saw "Man" and he was too far away to be a zombie and I thought it would be a low chance an animal would be sitting in there. I left him... by the way. On top of that if you open the map you can see people who have put markers down, last night I saw "Derp" written down near a town and then I wrote "Herpa" because I'm cool like that. Finally... my friend and I set out to run around 6KM across the map during the night under the cover of darkness to go for medical supplies, I used "Shift + L Click" to place a waypoint, my friend said he instantly saw that way point appear on the map. Does that mean everyone else in the server sees it as well?

Or does it only allow people who are standing next to me to see these sort of way points?

Map markers are tied to the chat channel you're in at that point in time

So if someone sets a marker while being in Side channel(global chat), everyone will see the marker

If you're on direct chat(about 35m radius) on the other hand, only the players in your proximity will recieve the map marker

But I don't know how secure it is, since I play on a server with side chat disabled and sometimes I see markers all over the place that were not placed by me or my mates

Yeah in another post i read that once you reconnect you are able to see all map markers regardless of the channel they were placed in.

Don't think that applies to vehicles and players.

I have played arma for a long time and some of what you are describing is based on how the server is set up. I think all tags and auto map marking of objects should be removed by the mod. And, yes in certain servers your car will show up to players who can see it. Even if the player hasn't noticed it yet, which is why I think it should be disabled. But they will need to be within a few hundred meters or so. It's not going to show your car to someone who is across the map. I found an atv this way once. Also, yes map markers are showing up to everyone who joins a server. Hopefully this can be fixed In a patch.

Thanks for the information. I died when I was laying down extremely close to my vehicle (which had been completely hidden in the trees for hours) so I was just a bit curious.

I'll speak to my server admin and hopefully get the map markers disabled.
