Scrugz 1 Posted July 9, 2012 So I just recently started playing DayZ and I think that it's a pretty awesome game. When starting out with no weapon, zombies are definitely pretty nerve racking to encounter, considering that you're helpless. Of course, once you get a weapon and enter a nice, spacious building, they become a mobile shooting gallery. I also know, have read about, and experienced, the player killing going on. What I want, as a player, is for the infected in the game to be much more intimidating but still balanced. I want myself, and fellow players, to fear startling a horde of zombies. The crap should hit the fan when they come. In other words, I want there to be more risks involved with say, shooting a gun. If you were in a zombie infested city and knew that the dangerous, blood thirsty zombies around were extremely attracted to loud noise, would you fire a shot off at that new player creeping down the street if it meant that zombies were going to tear through your flesh after they all converge on your position? Isn't part of this game supposed to be about evading the zombies instead of shrugging them off as just an inconvenience? Right now players are much, much more of a threat than zombies, and as stated before, zombies become a bit of a joke after you've gone indoors with a proper weapon. Here are some changes that, I believe, would improve the zombies:-More health. I know that they are technically infected individuals, but I think that most guns shouldn't one shot them. Except for things like double-barreled shotguns, sniper rifles, and the crossbow. All shots to the head should still be one hit kills, but for most guns it should at least take two or three shots to the chest.-Slightly slower movement speed. As of now, their movement speed is a bit silly. I think that they should run at around the same speed of the survivors, but have the ability to maybe attack on the run? If at all possible. Their current "I'm going to stop and wait a second before attacking so that you can get like... 20 feet ahead of me" tactic is a little off putting. I also think that normal walker zombies should have slight variations in move speed. Some could move slightly faster than players, others about the same, and some slightly slower.-Stamina. Honestly I think that both humans and zombies should have this. With zombies running at the same speed of survivors, you may be thinking "Oh gee, well, how would they ever catch up?" Stamina. Yes, stamina. And zombies, being in a raged frenzy and all, wouldn't mind that their muscles are starting to tear from over-exertion, so would have more stamina than normal humans. Shooting at a zombie should probably decrease its stamina. Once either a human or zombie's stamina has been depleted, they should reduce to a walk for a short time. As an average Joe survivor, running nonstop across an entire island with two or three weapons and a backpack full of junk is unrealistic.-Not slowing to a walk in buildings. For some small houses I get how a zombie going full sprint could be problematic. But a huge warehouse or spacey barn? Nay, I say, nay!-Not slowing to a walk after losing sight of a player. In my opinion, they should slowly cool down after losing a player. They should start to run around randomly in the area where they last saw the player in a search mode, and then progress back down to their slow trudge.-Hearing radius for louder noises increased for zombies. Things like gun shots and other loud noises should attract zombies from much farther away than they currently do. I'm not just talking about making the zombies go all ape-mad and aggro from long distances, but to also have zombies start to drift towards the locations of continuous loud noises over time. I'm not sure how this could be achieved though, since I think that zombies spawn by the location of a player in an area. It'd just be cool to have masses of infected slowly parading across the grassy planes.-More damage, but less chance for bleeding. I think that zombies, using their fists of infected fury, should do more damage per hit. I also think that the chance of them to cause bleeding should be lessened. Having a zombie punch you in the back, causing spouts of blood to gush forth, is a little weird. But having said this, it'd be cool to make it so that the more a zombie/pack of zombies hits you, the greater the chance of bleed/damage/bone breaking.I know that there are other threads like this, but the ones I've seen haven't gone into much detail. Scrugz 1 Posted July 9, 2012 Any opinions? Sorry if it's a wall of text. Just thought that I'd bump considering the awkward time I posted it at. Also, just another thing, it should be much harder for zombies to break a player's bones. I've never had one break mine, but I've heard of a lot of cases of it happening. But, at this time, the bone breaking system is extremely glitchy anyway. I remember opening a door and breaking my legs the other day.
