Exploiting Hacked Items, Admin Involvement - Seattle 13

Recommended Posts

Server: DayZ Zombie RPG - Seattle 13 (v1.7.1.5) dayzmod.com - Hosted by the DayZ Alliance

Date/Time: July 8th 2012, 4:50pm (aprox) PST

Youtube video with Ventrilo log of admin explaining how he dupes etc:

My friends were driving in an ATV (near NW airfield). Suddenly someone opened fire on them with a silent weapon shooting at a high rate of fire.

We initally thought this was an M4A1SD since we couldn't think of anything else which could do that.

The friends in the ATV booked it out of there succesfully which left me in the forest looking for the assailant.

After a short search I found them (love the l81 thermal scope <3) and took them out at close range.

The player was "NoD^sYe" and attached you'll see the equipment they had on them at the time. The location "043,036".

Since we'd been on this server for a long time we had gathered their vent info at one point. Using that, one of us logged into their Ventrillo server and found "NoD^sYe", "Deagle" and "Jesus Christ" talking together inside.

He went in and started recording the conversation... : )

They were talking about duplicating items and exploiting openly in there. Listen to the recording or check the youtube video for more detail.

When asked about using the items they tried to justify it as if killing someone with a hacked item gives you the right to USE IT and DUPLICATE IT. As many times as you want no less. : D

Afterward we searched a bit for info about our server on google. We found this thread accusing "Deagle" (Seattle 13 admin) and "NoD^sYe" of bannning another group of players unfairly. We don't know anything about this one firsthand, but this is what we found.

Link: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=25890

I just want to re-itterate. Deagle is the admin and openly admits to:

-Using hacked items.

-Duplicating hacked items.

-Allowing anyone in his team to freely use and duplicate hacked items.

Our entire clan was banned from that server (some of which weren't even online when it happened) when we killed Deagle.

Difference between the "hackers" and "diehards" is that the diehards meet you on the same ground so to speak, so you have the same opportunity they do for getting gear and being a "success" insofar as the game is concerned.

Admin like the above, do not give you that opportunity, the cards are stacked in their favour because of the "cheating".... so which again would you rather ?

Recording a ventrillo or teamspeak conversation is not illegal, neither would it be illegal to say take a screenshot of a post in a forum and post it elsewhere.

The speech server was not passworded so it's "public access", therefore anyone can hear what anyone is saying "publicly".

Might want to read up on laws regarding that kind of thing before you throw the word illegal around :)

The admin are abusing their "power", they are banning users for the wrong reasons, and breaching rules aswell as cheating in order to gain advantage.

Bringing this out in the open is a good thing, it removes the "bad element" from the admins, and shows that you will be caught sooner or later.

Crying about this being posted is just like crying over a hacker being caught.

Oh you bastards ! how dare you "out" someone who is cheating ! shame on you ! ......................

Nah its more the aspect that any fucking mug that loses in game to someone can get raged about how they can't lose to anyone therefore their killer is a hacker can record people.

Its fucking insane. Its a damn computer game, why the fuck are people taking it so serious that they are getting all james bond? Don't get me wrong, hackings bang out of order, but so is the prospect of some random spying on you and recording shit. In this case granted, some prick was caught red-handed, but what if he was innocent? Some prick would have just recorded him... Thats a bit fucking iffy mate.

I shouldn't have to say this but : This is the internet, NOTHING is "private", much as we like to think it is or "should" be, it's not the case, anything you do or say on the internet is there for the world to see or hear. To think otherwise in my mind is naive, it's not like tapping someones phone, this is simply recording a public chat.

If they had been bothered by others listening / recording their conversation then the channel or server should have been locked / passworded so only they could hear.

And if they had been innocent then they would not have had any proof and of course would have been shouted down in the same public manner that they went about placing this information.

Without the conversation showing any kind of "guilt" then it would have been completely useless to post , therefore it would not have been posted.

The reason people do this and appear to take it so seriously is because the rules require it, to accuse someone of this with no proof would only result in the above (getting abused on the forums by all), so really it's the way this is all setup that has made the above kinds of action the only way a player or admin can actually "prove" their not either abusing / cheating / exploiting or prove that the other person is.

Sad perhaps, but it's the only option.

Yup. Psyl3nt hit the nail on the head.

Our team mate connected with information which was made available publicly. Originally we had the intention of informing the admin Deagle of a potentially hacker...

..once we heard what was REALLY going on that was out of the question.

You don't have to say any of that its understood, but you seem to be missing my point slightly, only slightly but still.

Its the thought that during some of my super-happy-double-fun gaming time, i may get caught up in some 'hardcore' basement dwellers shitstorm. (I'm wandering a bit off topic here, i'm not aiming that at OP or anyone just to be clear) The level of seriousness some players and clans take it to is almost worrying, i've seen some cases on game forums of people exposing other players emails, address, phone numbers even because its claimed they are a hacker, and its turned out the accused is just a better shot and legit, but they still get hate mail from idiots they have never met over a game.

I wouldn't be worried if gamers weren't such a bunch of self-important cheating fucks but most of them are. Its like people crying that PVP is bad in this mod due to 'X', when really its just because your average gamer is a net-raging arsehole. This amount of hate in ALL game communities is pretty frightful. Thats what i'm saying.

We've somehow managed to taking gaming from having fun with bubble blowing dinosaurs and turned it into a 'serious spy bizess' thing that people get fucking stabbed over. I mean come on,what the actual fuck?

Yeah fair enough, accepted, its just the wider implications what worry me, see my last post in here. i'd like to also point out again i'm not getting angry at anyone, its just the thought of being spied on while i hunt for beans is a bit creepy.

That's a fair opinion if a bit off-topic.

We're not trying to ruin someone's life. We're reporting a baddy admin and his crew. Nothing more.

If nothing comes of it I don't care. Just making the effort.

On the point of people taking things too seriously, I have to agree. It is after all supposed to be a game that we enjoy in our spare time, not an all consuming "life or death" type screnario.

I would take a very dim view, (and I hope moderators / Admin do too), of people posting real life names / address over this kind of thing, I think if the "crime" is being commited in the game world, then it should be dealt with in the game world.

Unfortunately people do get fairly upset by things in video games, probably through like you say, taking it all too seriously.

We can hope that as the community matures and the alpha bugs settle that this kind of thing would be rare, and only ever in a justified situation.

I'm of the mindset that if someone wants to spend the time in my teamspeak and record or listen to what we are saying then go for it, because also apart from being perfectly legal to record me, it's also not permitted as "evidence" in any real life situation.

My advice is, (for anything on the internet), never use real names, never use real information, never say or do anything that you don't want "public" and most importantly never ever even for one second think that anywhere on the internet or on a computer is "private".

I see people linking their facebook pages among other things, which to me is just crazy, I don't even have a facebook, it violates every "internet law" that I hold myself too.

There are a lot of strange people in the world, and most of them, are on the internet :)

I can't believe what I'm seeing on these forums.

When people report admin abuse, you ask for concrete evidence.

When people are banned but the admins have no evidence for it, (despite the fact that the rules clearly state admins cannot ban for anything but racism) you take a guilty until proven innocent approach.

Then when people DO have evidence for their case, you turn it down since it's not obtained by anything less than the most noble means.

Are you serious? How much red tape do you intend to tie people down with? Is there anything productive that come from these forums?

Understand that this isn't a lot different from murdering a bandit. Undoubtedly, a crime committed for a much greater good. You can worry about the implications of the method after something is done about the more immediate problem.

Most definitely is. If this doesn't get their server blacklisted and their ID's banned, I don't know what will. This is just shocking. What do you really need to get someone banned?:-/

I don't think it will happen but I would like to see a reply from the Admins of Seattle 13, Give them a chance to explain what happen from their point of view.

Because I don't like it what people just jump on the "Let's Ban Everyone" without giving them a chance to have their say.

LOL. Someone's not happy about this post. =P

Received a ban immediately on connect (location still being shown in corner) while Deagle was online.

Good job, you're going from exploiting to outright breaking server agreements.

Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc.

http://dayzmod.com/f...r-read-in-here/

PS. Its not a Battleeye ban, as I can enter all other servers. Oh and Deagle, try not to keep shooting yourself in the foot.

I like how this faggot tries to pull the morality card when he gets accused of breaking the rules. He sounds like he would be some dick in real life who would commit a crime then bitch about discrimination or some other political bullshit to try and get off scot free.

This guy actually has valid evidence which is more then i can say for most things on here, and he was smart enough to get it himself through loop holes in the hackers shitty security, then so be it. This just proves how dumb hackers are.

I hate how people come with the 'Oh god he hacked in an internet game I'm sure he could murder someone now and he's a complete douchebag now oh my god wtf!' approach.

Seriously? It's a video game.

Fact is, yes, the admin hacked. Cool. He's most likely going to get banned for it, the OP and his friends will get their stuff refunded (I guess) and it's over with.

Atleast try to be a BIT mature when it comes to reports and try not to make assumptions of how much of a douchebag the guy is IRL and how much you want to see him dead because he hacked in a video game..

Just to clarify. We didn't LOSE anything. We baited and killed a guy with obviously hacked items, gathered the evidence, initially planning to report it to the admin, but then realised the exploiter, admin, and several others were already participating in and condoning rampant exploiting.

We're not reporting this because we want something back or for any form of personal gain. We're reporting this because the server should be discredited and people deserve to know.
