Dayz loading straight into Arma2 menu

When i try to join a game through the six launcher (steam purchased) it loads normally into the screen where you see all the players, i click join it loads normally and i join the game for about a split second and all i can see is waiting for host, then into another loading screen and at the end of that im in the Arma 2 menu, there are no error messages at all, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you find the confirmed install for the six launcher for Steam versions?

Steam is quite finicky when playing around with mods and stuff in Arma2.

I would avoid the launcher and install the files manually into the correct directories for Steam, which will be different than the commercial version.
