Bad seiral number given in setup

When i try to play arma 2 (not oa) it says bad serial number given in setup! + when i try to re-install battle eye it says do you want to make change's to your computer i click yes then nothing happens i check and it's not downloaded PLZ HELP >:C

just shut down steam , look for the steam icon and right click it and launch as administrator

If you own the steam version and you just installed you have to run it once normally via steam and it will do some finalising set up stuff. If you don't do that it's technically not properly installed so you get this error.

if steam is not ran as administrator when installing arma II or expansions it cannot write the cd key to the registry

so you just shut down steam find the icon right click start as administrator

also if you get the amazon package you must download both latest patchs for arma II and OA exp and apply them manually or you may get the red X's beside the server names
