Retrievable crossbow bolts

Crossbows as they are currently they're kind of temporary weapons dropped for any other gun with ammo(most times) basically as the reload is as loud as crap and you get 1 shot per reload and a arrow takes up 1 slot. What about if the crossbow was a bit more useful for zombie killing where you could retrieve arrows off of the dead zombies gear however the arrow would have a 1-2 out of 10 chance of breaking. I know there are a few other posts about this but I believe arrow breaking makes it a lot more of a balanced feature. Please don't even argue against this from a realism perspective you can retrieve an arrow from a body i'm pretty sure. If you think this would make the crossbow too powerful that's different although I would disagree as crossbow ammo is so limited and if you miss your in serious trouble.

You know, I spent about 2 days using the crossbow. You know how many bolts I was able to recover? About 25% of them that hit, which is just awful. The only reliable way to reuse crossbow bolts? Never hit your target. Dude's not a troll, he's just been unlucky.

I generally push my luck with stealth but end up really close to zombies, I've killed quite a few with a crossbow and have always been able to retrieve them if I hit and not find them if I miss... I went through Elektro with a crossbow and one bolt, swapping after about 15 kills/2 minutes after missing and trying to retrieve my bolt which ended up aggroing a zombie. I ended up sprinting to the church and swinging my hatchet to the road of survival. My point being, crossbow bolts are retrievable. Hatchets are overpowered.

Not sure what you're doing wrong, but I only lose maybe 10% of the ones I hit with.
