Do *NOT* Spam Connections

Having had the dubious pleasure of inheriting a clan's arma server, and learning the basics really effing fast (whut? windows has a remote access tool?), I figured something like this was the case. As such I've been joining, waiting 5 minutes and if no joy moving to another. I figured it was along the lines of when we'd left warfare running too long.

Cheers for the information. Seeing that 'x has disconnected', 'x has connected' spamwall made me thankful I don't have to deal with it...*prays* You guys need a medal for patience 'cos I'd have deployed the thermonuclear ban wave by now.

Will try and spread the word for what good it'll do...

The former, not the latter. I suppose that is legitimately ambiguous.

Connection spamming is when you spam a server with actual connections, ie: connect - disconnect - reconnect - disconnect - reconnect.

Enter spamming is when you break your thumb hitting spacebar or enter just trying to get into a server. Is that the best? No. You're wearing out your keyboard. But when you do that all you're doing to the server is going "Hi, can I join?" and the server goes "no."

Words: They mean things. You can't just substitute whatever meaning you please to go off on a tangent against the poster. Well, I mean, you can as we've seen here, but still, you end up looking slightly ridiculous when you call "Hey I know enter spamming is the only way to get into the server" unfair criticism of enter spamming because it's the only way to get into the server, and then call a post about connection issues made a week ago "BS" while you, in the same sentence, complain about the connection issues a week ago.

Let's be clear here. I'm the one who posted a thread correcting you for being wrong' date=' or for not explaining yourself properly. I was unaware that thin skin has anything to do with criticism, but apparently it does.

Edit: I did just now came back (after the post below was written). Couldn't resist the entertainment and the name calling I would receive. I also figured out how reputation works, a feature I have largely ignored until now. What fun.

Anyway folks, the thread is over a week old at this point, and rapid connection/disconnection cycling is not the problem it used to be thanks to server saturation. This topic may warrant being unstickied now, as the problem dropped dramatically a while ago.

Too bad when I wait for 5 minutes at *retrying to authenticate* reconnecting is the only thing that solves the issue-sometimes multiple reconnects. I've sat for over 30 minutes at retrying to authenticate it never goes through. So you are speaking for those who have no issue connecting. Sometimes I go as far as exiting steam and relaunching as Admin to attempt avoiding that error.
