sirfluffkillington 1 Posted May 24, 2012 Having had the dubious pleasure of inheriting a clan's arma server, and learning the basics really effing fast (whut? windows has a remote access tool?), I figured something like this was the case. As such I've been joining, waiting 5 minutes and if no joy moving to another. I figured it was along the lines of when we'd left warfare running too long.Cheers for the information. Seeing that 'x has disconnected', 'x has connected' spamwall made me thankful I don't have to deal with it...*prays* You guys need a medal for patience 'cos I'd have deployed the thermonuclear ban wave by now. Will try and spread the word for what good it'll do... Mojo (DayZ) 66 Posted May 24, 2012 You also criticize "enter spamming". Some of us use macros to solve that problem' date=' and spamming is the only way to get on the same server as your friends at this point unless you want to inconvenience 5 people so that the 6th person can join them on a different server.[/quote']If you call this criticism:So just to clarify are you referring to assholes that actually connect but then get tired of waiting for it to load or assholes that click join' date=' get a message that maximum players has been reached, then immediately click 'join' again?[/quote']The former, not the latter. I suppose that is legitimately ambiguous.Connection spamming is when you spam a server with actual connections, ie: connect - disconnect - reconnect - disconnect - reconnect.Enter spamming is when you break your thumb hitting spacebar or enter just trying to get into a server. Is that the best? No. You're wearing out your keyboard. But when you do that all you're doing to the server is going "Hi, can I join?" and the server goes "no."So' date=' it's not hurting the server if I press Enter in a rather fast way?[/quote']Hurts nothing but your thumb. You have the thinnest skin I've ever seen.So lets just be thankful that connecting isn't as bad as it was a week ago on most servers' date=' and stop with the "you being the 1% impatient children who throw fits and temper tantrums" BS.[/quote']A week ago like a week ago when I made the post when the connections were bad and servers were getting hammered with connections? Like then a week ago?Words: They mean things. You can't just substitute whatever meaning you please to go off on a tangent against the poster. Well, I mean, you can as we've seen here, but still, you end up looking slightly ridiculous when you call "Hey I know enter spamming is the only way to get into the server" unfair criticism of enter spamming because it's the only way to get into the server, and then call a post about connection issues made a week ago "BS" while you, in the same sentence, complain about the connection issues a week ago.Words.They mean things. Luieburger 15 Posted May 24, 2012 So just to clarify are you referring to assholes that actually connect but then get tired of waiting for it to load or assholes that click join' date=' get a message that maximum players has been reached, then immediately click 'join' again?[/quote']The former, not the latter. I suppose that is legitimately ambiguous.See... I'm not the only one that apparently didn't understand your words that "mean things".You have the thinnest skin I've ever seen.Let's be clear here. I'm the one who posted a thread correcting you for being wrong' date=' or for not explaining yourself properly. I was unaware that thin skin has anything to do with criticism, but apparently it does.A week ago like a week ago when I made the post when the connections were bad and servers were getting hammered with connections? Like then a week ago?Words: What do the words in the previous quote even mean?Don't even bother replying to this thread except to pound your own chest. I won't bother coming back.Edit: I did just now came back (after the post below was written). Couldn't resist the entertainment and the name calling I would receive. I also figured out how reputation works, a feature I have largely ignored until now. What fun.Edit edit: Re (http://dayzmod.com/forum/reputation.php?uid=5024) - See the edit above.I'm glad we've kissed and made up. Thank you for the fun thread. Mojo (DayZ) 66 Posted May 24, 2012 For the audience watching at home, what you are about to witness is the wild Mojo in his native habitat, finally losing that oft-cited saintly patience on an ostensible 25-year-old throwing the tantrums of a man-child. Observe!: [nothing. -Ed.]Edit: Well he retracted an error I highlighted, which I guess is an expressed desire to end this stupid pissing match.Anyway folks, the thread is over a week old at this point, and rapid connection/disconnection cycling is not the problem it used to be thanks to server saturation. This topic may warrant being unstickied now, as the problem dropped dramatically a while ago.
Bald Fruit 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Too bad when I wait for 5 minutes at *retrying to authenticate* reconnecting is the only thing that solves the issue-sometimes multiple reconnects. I've sat for over 30 minutes at retrying to authenticate it never goes through. So you are speaking for those who have no issue connecting. Sometimes I go as far as exiting steam and relaunching as Admin to attempt avoiding that error.
