Just a couple questions

Recommended Posts

I just started playing this game and so far really enjoying it but just had a couple of game play questions for some people who have played a little longer so here it goes :)

Question 1

Audio - When you fire your weapon how do zombies respond ?

Does this alert zombies to that area or to the player specifically ?

I'm only asking as this would be a good game play element if it was to be area specific so you could setup decoys rather than it just alerting all zombies to your location.

Vision

Now I know that there is the 1-5 bars for vision and hearing but is that a general feature that when you are stood up you are +5 visible or is it that you are +5 visable to zombies visual cone looking at you at that specific moment ?

Zombies in buildings ?

ok so im still fairly new to this but from what I have played zombies don't seem to ever be just in a house that your searching. isthis because I havnt played much or do zombies only tend to go into houses when they chase you ?

I placed this in the suggestions thread as depending on the answer they could be suggestions

1) I'm not certain of the exact range of the zed's hearing. But if they're within ear-shot (ha, pun.) and depending on how loud the weapon you're firing is, then they will come a'flocking. Especially with a lee-enfield, so I've seen.

Here you will find the link to the DayZ Wiki: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Weapons

provides a detailed list of all legit weapons, their ammo, all the way down to how loud the gunshots are.

Vision basically works exactly the same way that hearing does, which leads me to assume that the zed's have some sort of an aggro radius (meaning there's a certain distance before they become fixated on you, if you're unfamiliar with the term.) I've been on some servers in broad daylight, standing upright maybe 25m from a zed and he just goes about his day.

and to answer your last: Zeds only go into buildings when they're chasing a survivor.

Actually Zeds can spawn in buildings now. In answer to sound, it is based on the weapons sound level, for vision, zombies have a 60 degree range of vision they cannot see you outside of it.
