Aight now think about it. Everyone knows beards can be pretty damn cool, especially when you're a survivor hippie who can show he's such a badass because he's lived so much longer than anyone else.. SO, after you survive for one day, you get a 5 o'clock shadow. Two days you get a goatee. Three you get a pretty sweet stache and a John Lennon beard. After four, you look something like the picture below. Only awesomer. Of course there will be a 10% chance after four days that when you cook meat that your beard catches on fire.

+1! BEARD ARE AWESOME but you are given the abilty to shave with a hunting knife?

if you live for longer than a week than you get a massive long beard that you can trip over and pass out :)

If you live for over a week you can just light fires with your beard hair. No campfires. You can also make Beardicades, like regular barricades as in sandbags and entrenching tool, except you need a "Kick-ass Beard" and a "Barbers kit" in your inventory. They will just be gigantic balls of hair that clog hallways inside of buildings. Beards also prevent you from getting cold, and they also have 6 of their own inventory spaces.

For people that can't live long enough to grow beards, supermarkets will also carry "Neck-Baskets" which you can conveniently carry your items inside of a basket suspended with fabric around your neck.

besides the sillines of the last suggestions. I think a beard for long-time-survivors would be a funny detail

(btw you can have a beard by changing your loadout face at "main Menu > Player Profile > Edit)

The dark side would be: You could paint a bullseye on your face for having a beard cuz thos, who call themselves bandits, those who i call psychotics, would love to end the streak of such a person.

If someone would suggest that you cann cut them off with the knife and hold them in your inventory than thats the scalping-thing for advanced players.
