i have seen some livestreamers with this HUD, that shows them where they are on the map.

but they hide it with a popup window orsomething.

Any idea how they do it?

Maybe they are using an out of game map. The in-game map is full screen.

Sounds like the in game GPS item which you can toggle on once you find one.

I asked about this, do you mean the blue dot /arrow on the map? Its only on certain servers.

I questioned the point of GPS when I have the marker and someone pointed it is allowed on certain learner, easy type server hosts.

Mate this is just to hide their character name when they open their inventory so nobody stream snipes them on the server they play.

[/quote']It's added over the top by the video-maker by his recording/streaming software... just like his web-cam insert in the bottom left ;P

When I live-stream, I insert a little window showing my web-browser map over the top of the video -- to people watching it, it looks like I've got a map on my screen at all times, but in reality, it's not over the top of my Arma window, the map is open on my 2nd monitor. It's just for the benefit of the viewers.
