Just like to give credit to players Jacob and Joppers

Recommended Posts

Who, under fire from a sniper (me) at NWAF, tried to hold their ground for up to 10 minutes in a hangar instead of combat logging. During this period Joppers was killed by a shot to the leg, Jacob got away and my gunfire drew a small horde that I had to fend off with my sidearm.

Been sniping for a while, and you'd be surprised how rare that kinda thing is. Sniping tends to draw loggers more than most cause, hey, let's face it, I'm not exactly putting people in a fair confrontation.

+1 to them! I've been in 3 encounters with snipers on my current char and haven't not logged out once during a fire fight and my char is still alive! I was gonna delete him and start fresh but after surviving 3 separate sniping encounters i must continue on with him cause killing him off would feel lame after surviving all of this. the key to surviving snipers I've come to believe is patience. the first time is what made me turn my char into a vigilante and start calling him the punisher before that his name was Eddie. (rl name) as the punisher i make it my job to actively hunt and kill snipers at popular locations (hospitals/ airfields) business is picking up and its really keeping me busy and giving me something to do. :D

1st sniper i encountered was at NE airfield, me and my friend decided to get dangerous and go there. we were crawling to the first hanger from around the back and right before we got inside the hanger bam! friend gets killed instantly by the shot and i get shot at twice but they missed. honestly thought I'd freeze up and just turn around looking for him but that would have gotten me killed as well but nope, i quickly kept crawling around the hanger door corner and ducked outta sight. knowing for sure that the sniper wanted to loot my buddy he got. I pulled out my trusty 1911 put myself in a crouched position and waited, and waited and waited. seemed like forever but i'm sure it wasn't but maybe 5mins or so. I knew the sniper would eventually want to come loot my friend (just outside the reach of the hanger door) so that's why i waited. most likely he thought i probably disconnected but I refuse to wimp out like that in this game. sure enough just before i was about to giving up playing the waiting game he pops his head around the hanger door. BAM BAM I blast two in his chest. honestly thinking two would be enough but it wasn't. thats when i thought i was really dead, BAM he shot me, but it didn't kill me. was a bad shot i assume and simply made me low. well i'm stuck reloading so i roll left and right as i'm reloading my 1911. well he was reloading as well about to put another sniper round in my chest/head but my trusty 1911 reloads faster then his sniper gun and BAM, 3rd shot got him, right in the head and down like a sack of potatoes he went. right before he was raising up his gun after reloading. I shot another round in his head just to make sure he was dead and not simply unconscious. had to fight off a few zombies afterwards but i finished them off and check his corpse. OH man this sniper had everything, sniper suit, military grade sniper rifle, silenced sub machine gun, almost all tools ect i mean the works. I'm sure he didn't expect to die that day. (oddly enough he was still using the default backpack even though everything else he had was awesome) it was such a freaking rush and felt so greeeaat. I smile as i loot his gps and entrenching tools (first time seeing them in game for me) left his silenced sub, looted his military sniper because i didn't want anyone else having it even though it was pointless to me, later discarded it in a lake along with the ammo. thanks to that fight, killing snipers has become my goal in this game. thanks dude whoever you was, I'm still enjoying your gps.

2nd fight was when me and same friend from first game (cousin irl) was heading to brez hospital for supplies and seen a couple snipers in the tree line hitting the hospital roof. we watch them for a bit but neither one of us had a long range gun at the time, I stupidly and no knowing the range of the handguns started opening fire on them from to far a distance with the handgun and didn't hit either of them i think, scared the heck of out of them though i'm sure. they dropped to the ground and turned around and me and my friend ducked behind some trees. well my friend decided to pop his head out around a tree to look where they were and bam was killed. he told me to run or disconnect but i wasn't about to do either one. running would have just made me end up with a bullet in my back, so i turn quietly around into a pine with low trees and hide then for a good while, just listening, waiting and waiting, well i hear their footsteps and hear them approaching but can't see them but I hear the guy pop open a soda and drink, (he's right beside me though he didn't realize it) and finally they took off in a different direction and they left and i snuck out. (didn't get to kill them but coming out alive was a blast and a rush as i didn't want to die i had the first sniper i killed gps on me still.)

3rd sniper was at night time in brez military tent, i'm assuming he had nvg's the sniper shot at me and my fiance (she plays as well with me sometimes) and hit her but did not kill her. we ran inside the military tent both of us with our guns pointed at the entrance for a good 30mins before we decided to run out and leave. they must have left because they got tired of waiting for us to come out of the tent. my girl ran out first because she was kinda fresh didn't have many tools and is not as patient as me. nothing happen to her and i followed. didn't get to kill them but still a rush.

morale of the story, have patience grow a pair and stop disconnecting. odds are you will catch them off guard or wait them out till they leave. that was the first 3 anyways, wont bore you with the rest. but just keep on sniping people bro and i'll keep on sniping you. :D good times by all is had. :D

Like to see some other positive stories of players sticking to their guns when the going gets tough by the way. Preferably of other players you've observed.

Jacob and Joppers were kills 14 and 15 in what I'm hoping will eventually be a 30 kill montage (with slot 30 reserved for someone in particular) As it stands the shot that brought down Joppers was the single trickiest shot I've ever had to pull off in DayZ, hitting him in the foot between two trees from behind a wall at 850 meters away.

Had another group of 4 that tried their best to see the scenario through after them. Group of four but the only names I got were Leonardo and Fhillipe (SP?), the latter of whom I killed after a LOT of deliberate effort (my aim was just terrible that time for some reason, I coulda gotten Leo but I just barely skimmed him). They all seemed to log after Fhillipe died, but up to that point they were by far the closest anyone has come to identifying my location, coming within 300 meters. I think Fhillipe himself saw me cause he was running with his head turned in my direction.
