Has anybody else found that the AKS-74U is a bit better than the standard AKs?

I'm not suggesting any thing should be changed at all.

I'm just mentioning a finding of my own:

The AKS-74U seems to have a much more proficient record, from what I've seen with my testing in the editor. The Gun retains much, if not all of the accuracy and power of the AK-74, while also granting the user improved iron sights as well as a shorter, more manuverable weapon. It also won't stick through walls (as badly)***

From what I've found; the AKS-74U is able to acquire targets much easier due to the quicker aiming mechanic on the field in ArmA 2 given to shorter weapons. It looks non-intimidating, as well, which would make it an ideal weapon for survivors.

In comparison to the AK-74, I found no distinct advantages of the average 74 over the AKS-74U.

My thoughts on the Kobra sight AK-74 compared to the AKS-74U were mixed. The CQC target acquisition felt more comfortable with the Kobra dot sight, yet I found that at longer ranges, I was not as proficient with the dot sight as I was with the iron sights. I still managed to favor the AKS-74U due to the effective aiming process I had at longer ranges.

In comparison to the AKM, this weapon seemed more suitable to an assault rifle based individual, while the AKM proved to be more of a stand-in sniper / battle rifle (due to adjustable range).

In comparison to the M4A1, I found a lot of similarities that proved to be beneficial for each weapon, yet I managed to acquire targets quicker with the AKS-74U and with less irritation than the M4A1's clunky ghost sight style..

So, my findings on this rifle are a word of advice to FNGs. If you see an AKS-74U, you might want to take it and get yourself acquainted with it. The ammo is far more common than 5.56, and the sights are better than on other weapons. It's not just a CQC weapon ;)

Akm is amazing for accomplishing effective range. All of them are amazing though.

i agree, and would take the aks74u always over a normal aks74... as long as I don´t find a aks74 cobra that is :>

I mainly take it for CQC reasons. I hate getting stuck in doorways....

That said, I think I prefer the Kobra over all other ak's. Good CQC and nice sights.

aks 74u is one of my favourite weapons to use. but long range its not too good. I mainly use it for full auto up close panic situations where it truely shows its worth.

burst fire in tight rooms and buildings just tears up your enemy.

the regular 74's main weakness with the 74u is its maneuverability. i think it has a lower cycle rate as well if I remember correctly.

I prefer the AKM over the other AKs (beside Kobra sight modells). I just prefer it for reasons, I don't really know. It feels more rough and powerful to me.

Everytime I have an AKM, someone dies (or I just seam to win firefights with it, lol).

but if the U took less inventory space id use it, so it would be easy for me to put it in my backpack and pull hatchet out when i want to kill silently.
