We Need More Huntable Animals

Recommended Posts

So I've been playing a bit of Hunter Call of the Wild, it's fun, and it made me think that we need more animals to hunt, like deer, racoons, and rabbits, and if we got more huntable animals it would add to the environment. And if the devs wanted, they could take inspiration for the hunting system from Hunter COTW, like the blood, vital organs, and tracking. IDK I think it would be awesome and I have a cool character idea if we got more huntable animals.

@Devtryak

We already have rabbits and deer... then pigs, wild boars, foxes, roe deer, cows, sheep, goats... what's missing is a serious and realistic approach to hunting... and to the whole feeding and metabolism system of the doll: it has to eat and drink as if it had a "tapeworm" in its intestines. It's absurd and grotesque.
In addition, since a few patches, they have also reduced the caloric intake of meat: you can eat a whole cow and still not be full. It's absurd and grotesque... something out of this world!
This would really help: MORE REALISM!
Now they have also poisoned the meat of wolves and bears...
They have literally ruined my pleasure in hunting!
This should be "fixed": more realism in hunting, cooking and, finally, a serious and complete "work with skins" (jackets, pants, shoes, gloves, vests, etc...)
The idea of the "raccoon" is nice, but if everything else doesn't change, it remains another stupid useless animal...

I think the most important thing is the bird systems, we need birds to make the world feel real, and the good thing is that bird systems work on any map if they are created.

Adding snakes would also be nice because they are everywhere of the world, you can look at the system in RDR2 where if you get close to its perimeter it goes into attack position and can flee to another random spot.

On mod servers there are even crocodiles and they look and move well. I think Bohemia should explore other environments where there are other types of animals, but always looking for an interesting setting, I think Florida would be very interesting, as there are alligators, American crocodiles, white / bull / hammerheads sharks, etc..

Australia could also be interesting, with its great white sharks and saltwater crocodiles, or koalas and a lot of different animals, I think a new map should bring completely different flavours.

The funny thing is that we can hear birds...we just can't see them. I am thinking the biggest issue to adding birds would be lag, hence why most buildings also feel empty and they went with the whole "everybody looted everything" bit in the lore. Tbh, that's a bunch of crunk. DayZ is a halfway decent game with serious flaws in both mechanics and lore. They made a mistake of using their own engine, Enfusion, instead of using Unreal Engine which can handle all of what DayZ needs to be great.
