Issues with Flashlights and Flares

For the life of me I can't seem to throw a flare reliably. I hit F, bring the flares into the upper right corner of my screen, and flail away on the left mouse button. Nothing. Maybe once out of 20 times I hit the left mouse button a flare actually gets thrown.

Additionally, when I put the flashlight in hand to replace my pistol you would think that hitting left mouse would turn it on. I held the flashlight in my hand, during the night (about 2 AM game time) and tried but nothing worked. Looked through the options and there's nothing about it in the menus in-game.

So... Who can help me?

Try holding the left mouse button to throw flares instead of releasing it immedietly.

'L' key to turn the flashlight on/off.
