Spawn regions

My suggestion is: create spawn regions.

Divide the map into square regions. Upon death, you will spawn within the region you were last alive in. Of course, you won't spawn right next to your body. The square regions could be a couple square kilometers large.

Right now, if you die, you have to run all the way back, limiting your experience in the harder to reach areas of the map (mostly the northern areas).

I myself am getting really bored with spawning at the coast every time, visiting the same villages to stock up etcetera. I would like to explore the whole northern area without being killed and run back for hours, rinse and repeat.

Don't like the idea. Part of what makes the game awesome. Also keeps people close to the water which is pretty realistic.

Your death means a new beginning. If you can't stay alive long enough to explore as you would like, you should change your tactics and become as if it were real. Survival means self preservation above all else. Trust no one and take no careless chances for the sake of that coveted map. Food and water are all that you really need and if you focused on providing for your next meal rather than your next infected assault, your approach and engagement would reflect your caution. I personally think new characters should be spawned within the cities and tasked with escape as the initial objective.
