Rain + Night time = Unplayable lag

Anybody else fighting this issue? I play with the lowest possible settings, since I play on a laptop. It's playable, no lag or stutters during the day, even if it rains.

However, Night time, instant lag. Night time with rain = Completely unplayable and can barely move. Are there any .config files I can fool around with to increase performance?
